No, the reachability feature has not been completed yet, and I’m actually not sure if it will be done before Autonomi 2.0. I’m pretty sure the new tech has some completely different mechanisms for NAT traversal.
I’m 150 of 600 upgraded.
No, auto upgrades are a feature of the antnode binary itself.
And those instructions for doing a reset with antctl only applied to that particular release. There is no requirement for this release to do a reset.
Yeah it reduced by a few thousand so far. There will definitely be some older versions being evicted from the routing table in the new version, but I’m not sure if that accounts for the whole decrease.
The person who deployed those 2025.12.2.1 nodes is still holding strong at ~5% right now.
Upload scripts are running at full force again using Merkle. It’s going to be interesting to see it progress while the network upgrades. Getting in those cheap payments nonetheless ![]()
$0.13 a merkel get em while you can ![]()
Are you bagging a load of scratchpads for future use, or just uploading data?
I may try to get some photos backed up once I’m sure I won’t lose track of the keys etc.
Is the UX for ensuring you have the data map + decryption keys to access private files in the future pretty easy?
Just genuine uploads. It’s really to test the network, see how nodes behave when filling up etc.
The key stays the same, so even if you lose them, you can “reupload” them at a later stage. It will check for existing chunks (which they all do) and provide you with the exact same key again without spending a penny. I’d encourage anyone that has valuable data they want permanently stored to get started with uploading, it’s extremely cheap right now.
Although I would like to love to see a ton of data being uploaded to the network, I would be cautious about uploading any personal identifiable information onto the network just yet. A very thorough third-party audit on the current network regarding privacy and security has not been done, or at least not one that has been publicized. The last thing I would want for someone is their data or metadata being tied to their identity when they are expecting a completely private service.
Why is this acceptable, to the team, to the principles, to David? If it is because marketing, then do it when marketing starts and keep it for that, otherwise WTF? It’s so against everything the project stands for, and alienates anyone who values that or cares about their own privacy or the privacy of all those they interact with online and offline.
no serious project nor company is using dicord, management lives in the stoneages but we already know this for some time ![]()
I think there might be some confusion on what Rusty meant to say here. Anything of importance i.e. announcements, updates etc. should and will be cross posted between Discord and the Forum. There should not be a information gap between people only on Discord or people only on the Forum.
The only real difference between Discord and the Forum is that the team has chosen to actively interact with people on one platform, which right now is Discord.
I can see that there may have been some information (like upgrade instructions) that have only been posted on the Discord and linked to from the forum post. I’ll discuss this with Rusty and see if he can cross post this next time. If there is anything else you might be missing, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Either the team can actively cross post, or I can schedule some time to do the cross posting for them.
Not doing it.
On-device processing: Video selfies for facial age estimation never leave a user’s device.
Quick deletion: Identity documents submitted to our vendor partners are deleted quickly— in most cases, immediately after age confirmation.
Straightforward verification: In most cases, users complete the process once and their Discord experience adapts to their verified age group. Users may be asked to use multiple methods only when more information is needed to assign an age group.
Private status: A user’s age verification status cannot be seen by other users.
I personally have no assurances that will actually be the way it works. Especially when 2 million photos that were never supposed to be stored were leaked from discord storing them when they said they would not.
So honestly I take their press release with as much trust of actual workings as most press releases trying to push a hated feature through
I don’t imagine the team is coming back to the forum. Its already been decided. Even though the forum is a progressive web app which can send you notifications on phones/desktop, they seem to have built their new nest.
Why they went with Discord over Rocket Chat, Mattermost, Zulip, Matrix, Spacebar, or any other alternative is a bit confusing, but it is what it is.
Do you still get the shielded experience and can check in on whats happening without age verification or is it game over without it?
Well as soon as some one post something that its AI considered adult concepts (not content but concepts) or actual adult content then all who visit will have to do age verification. No matter the server
Maybe something as simple as “what sex was the pet” A innocent question when the other person was taking of maybe if you pussy cat could have kittens
But with the relentless progression of ID verification that has been rolled in on discord for the last 2 years, it is inevitable that ID verification will be required for everyone just to be able to use discord
I suspect this has to do with the desire to sell discord or privatise. You know make the buyer want it more with all the personal information they will be able to use for their own purposes. Elon do I hear the rustle of million dollar bills and you foaming at the mouth for all that ID info
What if the updates are bad? People might like to check the source before updating. I am not a fan of forced updates anywhere. My machine my choice.
Right now, this is the approach the team takes. It was a necessary measure to keep the updates rolling out at a decent pace. I can imagine going into the future there is no “the team” at all anymore, and everything is functioning in a decentralized matter. Until then, I think this is the right approach.
