Content-Addressable Storage (…)
Nodes are paid for data chunks they hold, but not for replicated data. They are expected to hold replicated data as a condition of participating in the network and having the chance to earn.
Will the nodes store the original data and the replicated data at the same time? Will this be a random issue? And can it happen that when a node is disconnected from the network (e.g. due to lack of power), the data from the node is transferred to other nodes and when the node is restarted, it only receives a copy of the data and is not paid?
Once data is paid for and replicated there’s no difference. It’s all just paid for data and no further payment happens after the original payment to the lucky node on initial upload of the chunk.
That’s why when you start a new node it receives data to store without payment.
