I know this isn’t relevant to autonomi right now.. But this is how pissed off I am right now with Google. Please, autonomi HAS to fix this shit.

Google and Reddit are both defending themselves against Sybil attacks.
I’m just calling it as I see it - I haven’t had a favorable opinion of either of these companies for quite some years now.
Services hosted on Autonomi are vulnerable to this type of attack as well - perhaps more so. Cryptocurrencies typically defend themselves against Sybil attacks by using Proof of Work (e.g. Bitcoin) or Proof of Stake (e.g. Ethereum). Autonomi does neither - it’s just a data storage layer intended for anyone to utilize.
Without an effective identity verification system (i.e. a way to enforce “human users only”), it’s only a matter of time before spam and fake reviews take over any business reviews website, subreddit, etc. Especially with AI as capable as it is now, it’s not hard for greedy/malicious spammers to amplify themselves through sybil attacks - at the community’s expense.
Granted, Google could do a better job with it’s local business reviews customer service - if it were willing to pay for more employee-hours of customer service. But their corporate culture tends to prioritize putting resources into systems development rather than customer service teams. With Reddit, “Reddit culture” is intolerant of outsiders and the company seems to be unwilling/unable to pay for higher quality moderation. It’s a problem that many sites struggle with, e.g. StackExchange in my experience made it difficult for people to contribute (“not enough reputation”).
