Dweb is coming.. a dweb app a day keeps enshitification at bay

A peek at the first version of Names…

Names is a decentralised web app for creating and listing memorable names for websites and files on Autonomi.

I’ll be publishing another tomorrow, and hopefully dweb on Sunday… or Monday.

Here’s Saturday’s Autonomi web app:

dweb is on schedule for Monday so here’s today’s helping, toast is a WordPress-like blog…

Please, forgive my total ignorance and lack of knowledge but… these names, does it mean something like friendly URL on Autonomi? I mean, will it be possible to publish our website at a certain name, like MyNewSite(dot)autonomi which can be accessed by others in the future via some Autonomi capable browser?

Eventually yes, but my thought at this point is not to have a central registry.

I think each person can maintain their own list and decide to share this. Anyone who finds this can choose to use it along with their own list. A browser plugin could use the lists and let you search them.

Maybe there will be a system for following the lists of others.

All this is open to discussion, or for anyone to take and develop the way they like.

BTW everything I’m making right now will work in a regular browser with no extras or configuration. All you will need us to install dweb.

Ant will use as a pay for hosting /domain or something in web browser. Should we made wallet in browser for every person they can move money amd chat in browser also or something… Btw… Wait is over finally… They can easily create or store ant in browser like plugin

Can i suggestions one tips trick to make browser most usefully

Just give some airdrop to who download browser and open 2 to 5 website… For some time… They can claim 10 ant to 50 ant anything you can fix… For some time.

dweb works with a standard browser. It’s is designed so that someone can install dweb and be able to browse right away, with nothing else.

Saving data or publishing a website is just as easy - nothing else needed except the tokens everyone needs because dweb can handle that too (like Autonomi’s ant).

I think discussion of a custom browser should be in its own topic so we can keep this for Names and dweb.

Wow, when the network works, this will be such a great app! Something to show when telling people about the network. :+1:

I promise one web app per day until I publish dweb! So today here is Fileman…

Fileman is a web app for viewing directories and files stored on Autonomi. This will include being able to select versioned data, where this is stored using a History data type (provided by dweb).

Thank you, its nice to hear at this time. The community has always been positive and supportive of me, in more ways than most know. Someone is creating a logo for dweb right now - they and others have done that for several of my projects. Others donated vast amounts of the token when I couldn’t get them myself when Autonomi didn’t come through on their promise to myself and others almost a year ago. That is said to be coming with the Alpha Network, so over a year later.

Anyway, we have a fantastic community and that’s been so very important. I would not and could not have done the work of the last decade without it. I might have a less rusty boat though!

Yes, rust is not always the thing we want, outside dev

I’m planning to publish dweb tomorrow so here is today’s dweb app, or rather WordPress like blog, so more a website than an app but a very important demo.

With Publii (a free, FOSS desktop app) anyone can build and publish a website or blog.

toast blog works exactly the same on Autonomi as the web with no customisation or tweaks to your browser or system.

I’ll post a link for viewing this on Autonomi as soon as it is available, but in the mean time you can visit it here.

When it is on the public network, anyone who has installed dweb can open this and similar sites in a regular browser with a single command:

dweb open toast

More soon, back to code!
