Debian 12.10 - Antctl (Failed to start service(s))

The Terminal Tab is buggy.. Nothing works when I enter commands. Can you guide me on How to change data dir?
Also, I should untick “home network” while creating nodes coz I have static public IP right?

Thank you, very much appreciated.

There are two separate issues here.

The problems with deserialization look like they are due to backwards compatibility with node registries written by previous versions of antctl, though we did try to be backward compatible. I’ll need to investigate that a bit further.

Khalid, for your issue, I don’t think it’s a problem related to antctl. You’d have to look at the logs for antnode to see why it isn’t starting. Do that as a first step before you look at changing any of the directories.

By default, if you added the node service with antctl running as root, you should be able to find the node logs under /var/antctl/services/antnode1. This should hopefully give you an idea of why the node isn’t starting.

I ended up using Formicaio. Unfortunately I formatted whole SSD and installed fresh Debian again, so the logs are gone.

This is total overkill and you will learn very little.
I know this fr a fact cos back in the late 90s when I was trying out Linux (SuSE it was) I used to try to sort problems that way -and as a result I think I maybe took a couple of years longer than I should have to become mildly competent in Linux. In my defence, I didnt have the support resources that are available these days - or didnt know where to look/ask.
This is NOT pre-2000 Windows where everything is/was such a mess where wiping it all and re-installing was perhaps the best/only way forward.
Please keep the logs and let us help you interpret them.

Ya, I have this worm in my head. If anything goes wrong, I start fresh. Bad habit/Time consuming but satisfies my head as “Yes! everything went perfect!”
