Do you really think we look like a threat with the community fighting about random stuff, no existing api yet, discussions about uploads working or not, etc etc
Iâd think itâs the same 18y project on its 3rd intermediate coin - still following dirvine in a cultish way⌠Reprogramming in better programming language still a possibility
Thatâs why I lean towards somebody who has been long term positioned with this project trying to ensure its success and if nothing else, slowly bow out.
Any intellect the size of @dirvineâs is a threat.
Community fighting, lack of API, upload issues are ephemeral, the basic premise of the network is a threat.
Otherwise I wouldnât be here ![]()
Vaporware for 18 years - launched and no api so nobody can show the product not to work
I repeat
The chance of it succeeding is not to be taken.
Just because you are not paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you.
It may have been 10y ago - by now nobody outside this cult believes in a real and working product being released until they see it and can test it to really work properly âŚ
And ofc just that you are paranoid doesnât mean youâre not being followed ![]()
You are looking from the inside out - they are looking from the outside in and may well have identified a potential threat and have deployed their own mitigation.
Put yourself in the shoes of a 2nd or 3rd tier management droid at AWS, DO, Oracle whatever. Your job is to get on and show loyalty, imagination and concern for the your operation. Obviously you will be having regular SWOT sessions, Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. If we have not featured at some of these meetings then I would be VERY surprised.
Community fallouts and dissension are to be expected (hell even demanded) in a project such as this. That and incomplete APIs, tech issues such as up/dowload hassles are merely temporary, at some point all these will be overcome and our existential threat to them becomes much more real.
Now if you were in that position, would you hesitate to get your retaliation in early? Your very nice salary and perks depend on it.
I think weâll see if weâre fools or not soonish
but I think that doesnât change the outside picture because we were around the corner many years nowâŚ
And hence been on their radar for many years now and they have had all that time to develop the most effective attacks AND when to deliver them. These people are not stupid.
I remeber many discussions at which it was pointed out that the network was at its most vulnerable shortly after launch.
And we were launching q3 '24 and had hackathons planned before that⌠How long would you plan on financing an attack on something thatâs not working anyway
Its costing them something to launch these attacks, not much though if they have spare capacity,.
âRun what you brungâ âtheyâ have lots to bring. Hell the scripts to do this may have been sitting ready for months, years to be deployed and just now was the time to run them.
Weâll see ![]()
But how will we react?
But ti is now time for me to follow @Dimitar 's advice that
if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly
and I am off for a 15 min walk instead of the hour I should be doing ![]()
How about a simple explanation; maybe they are just individuals who want to participate
. And maybe there are just a lots of them ![]()
What is the scenario we want to prevent? / weâre afraid of?
If its not a single very coordinated actor itâs difficult to launch an attack without risking to strengen the networkâŚ(against attacks from others/by causing significant growth that can be used for marketing /âŚ)
I too have switched off nodes because I can see that currently the amount of data stored does not allow any earnings but⌠perhaps such a large increase in the number of nodes is calculated for this, if everyone thinks like we do (and quite a few people have already signalled that they will switch off some nodes) then the dispersion of the network may be getting smaller and smaller, and we donât know what purpose someone has who is connecting such large numbers of nodes in such a short time.
Thank you! think you just answered the question i didnât know i wanted to ask.
can i ask you about USDC v USDT v PYUSD? rather, any reason to NOT choose paypal over either other? iâm leaning that way as it looks to check a lot of boxes for me, but please do warn me off if itâs a nightmare waiting to swallow me up.
basically, since iâm still pretty green in the crypto world and everything i learn points me to two other things to explore, iâm whittling down as many options/networks/tokens as possible to find the most direct and efficient route for:
- holding ANT
- ability to use ALL of any asset and not leave tiny amounts of my cash âfor gasâ or as transaction residuals on various platforms/chains/exchange
- fiat on ramp â crypto of interest AND fiat off ramp
- and now w PYUSD add global payments to anyone anywhere anytime
dang, thank you again, you likely just smoothed out several nasty wrinkles for me and made my whole world a better place!! i owe you beers!
almost forgot, we only need ANT to conduct business on autonomi, correcto? no need for ETH?
