I guess, but not from my average buy price. My moon begins maybe around 5€, and true moon around 10€.
My sentiment is down, and not easily lifted for a few reasons:
Main reason is that the project seems to be led by David. I’ve come to conclusion, that he is great at solving technical and conceptual problems and a brilliant innovator. Constantly having new good ideas and really pushing for innovative solutions. But at the same time it seems to me, that he is unable to commit to any chosen path and formulate it into principles and tasks that a team could be organized to realize.
And now that he seems to be developing full time all the Saorsa stuff, I’m afraid that the current path is somewhat without a course, and heading towards a revolutionary change if and when his endeavours with Saorsa proves fruitful. A change, that still has some “edge cases” etc. that needs endless fiddling, until the next major change in course. (And while he is doing Saorsa stuff, who is leading the developement with the current path?)
Second reason is that the team seems to small for the task. We hear all the time that “the team is small”, and I’ve come to think it is just too small. I think that the more features there are, like Merkel, shunning… the more housekeeping it needs to keep all those in good shape whenever updates are done. I would think that the team should grow in order to keep up with all the parallel tasks. The announcement of funds for “three more years”, makes me think that there is no plans for remarkable growth, but just steady work with a team about the same size.
Third reason is the treatment of this community and especially some specific members of it. The dismissal of things that @happybeing has raised is one, specifically around issues in mutable data. The other is the lack of acknowledgement of the proposal of @neoabout the QUIC settings. I followed that discussion pretty closely, and I think the discussion and trials didn’t go deep enough and take @neo ‘s points seriously enough.
There are more issues that worry me, but maybe this is enough for now. I’m not saying there is no chance of success, but I just don’t think it is very likely.
I’m holding out for a big bang moment now when everything just comes together at once can’t lie though seeing the community dwindle to what it is currently is sad
In a way that is how it feels, but we needed a good flush and reset.
After so many years everyone had their own little dream of what launch would be and how things would look and work, obviously this thread in particular expected more $$.
No matter how it went it would require time to adjust to reality instead of expectations.
I don’t want to be down, new year and starting optimistic.. but, it has felt like “who is this being built for” last year it felt like the people who have been waiting for years were not the target.
The mystical “partners” appeared the to be the target.
I could prolly sign and print this in its entirety. The good thing about launch and IF is the emperor’s naked now. The reality differs from hopes, but there’s hope in that. Once an individual or a group start to accept reality and take realistic measures, chances to succeed go up. But will they, mhmhm.
I feel now that certain separation between the team and the community has also good and healthy aspects - especially now, that they have secured some funding independent from the community.
I have less need to present myself as “supportive” and “optimistic” now that this forum is mostly a playground of non-teamsters, and now that I know that their funding is not depended on the price of the token.
I don’t have a will to shoot anything down either, and I will contain most of my skepticism here on this forum and act a bit differently on the Discord. And I will be happy to participate in the testing of Saorsa connections for example.
I view this forum more as a peer group, or a peer support group. Main purpose that I see for this forum now is to share views with others interested in this project in an open manner. Before I used to have an attitude that we are here to support the team (and the project, which are two different things by the way). That was a bit unhealthy position to be in, especially when our optimism was a condition to their funding. I’m relieved that it is not the case now.
She has not been active in the Discord chat since the 18th december but she probably does important Bux stuff and don’t have time right now, Discord is not where the magic happens.
Made a nice little app that tells node earnings last day, 7 days, 30 days and averages, it also shows graphs like this. Would anyone be interested then i will try and post it soon. On a good note, nodes seem to earn better after the last update and network getting smaller, hopefully with less bad actor whales in it.
Idk that we can fight the whales by running nodes.
Honestly I lost interest because running nodes for emissions is not overly exciting to me.
With merkel and stability hopefully we can run them to store data and support the network for what it is intended, not empty nodes paid to exist at the expense of holders.
We need to do what we can, no thinking, if we are not defending the network then who will? If everyone just do what they are able to do then we can see where we are in 12-18 months. We can’t just be short sighted and shut things down because it has been a rough few months.
Come on now, let’s do what we can or f’ck it all and we lose.
I disagree. If the network would get even a bit popular, “we” are going to be a minority. It needs to be built so that it is able to defend itself. If not, better fail sooner than later.
I shut down because it felt pointless, the nodes were doing nothing, not because of the rough few months. The design in my mind is add nodes when the network needs. We certainly haven’t had a shortage
Even if the few of us that ran good nodes did so, the vast mess of nodes still made it pointless.
I get your point, and even value it. But I would wait for the team to ask for that kind of support. I think it is interesting to see what happens without too much non-compensated farming.
Of course they didn’t but that will change now and forward, 0,01$ per GB. Please start things up again and let it run for 12-18 month and then you can jump ship. I have 8 payed uploads showing the last 13 hours.
