To be clear what am I supposed to use as far as the right token? Maidsafecoin? What? There doesn’t seem to be an Atto option.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a new wallet for this. But I think you can only have 1 wallet on MetaMask linked to a browser like Firefox at a time. I think the situation is that on that 1 wallet that has 1 address but you can link to multiple tokens on multiple networks. You probably need help from someone more knowledgeable for this though.
Nodes connect really quickly to the network but then spend a few minutes downloading some records. If that isn’t happening then something has gone wrong. It could take hours to get any payments.
If you join the Discord server at:-
you’ll get more immediate and interactive help from people.
But if you follow the instructions from the Metamask link above it will tell you what to add:-
Here are the details you’ll need

Lets just say anyone with even one (e)MAID is a billionaire at some stage down the track
1:1 atto to atto (10^-18 in network token) is what @JimCollinson said when asked to clarify
I think you gave me the wrong address. it says 1234 and its a blank server. So yeah. Nothing there.
Also the weird instructions you gave me led to a 404 error so… yeah.
In that case, the question is;
If there’s not going to be a pot / pool to split, I wonder if there will be enough data uploaded to bring bring store costs to a more interesting level to start testing market dynamics? I guess it’s not a big deal if not, but it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out
You don’t go to the address I quoted from the instructions. That is what you put into Metamask.
The main point is to follow the instructions at:-
to create a Metamask wallet, link it to the token and get your wallet address.
After that you start the node with the instructions at:-
which includes starting the nodes with your address and the correct network.
The challenge of earnings, also people want to test the network and be a part of it. Maybe this is why we are not seeing ultra large node farming like in previous testnets. The incentive is not there for them to use so much money to run those farms on VPS
Amazing news, great work everyone!!
Thanks @neo.
As I said that is my understanding too.
I think that is a good approach to test how things really should work.
I don’t understand why the info is so vague and why we have asked for clarity here numerous times but get none.
Congratulations @dirvine and the entire team.
To be fair, he did say it up front and its just doubt crept in when people talked about it being so small
True.
I have never been so high up the “leaderboard” as I am now.
The home rig is finally paying off now that servers are dropping like flies.
Hey you guys!
Chosen date and time for the Autonomi network launch announcement, a coincidence?
29th October in 1969…
Thx 4 the update Maidsafe devs
Sure is live, got a few attos already
Thx @dirvine 4 sharing your dream with the
Got a app working on Replit, would love to see a partnership, it’s time to code…
Respect to you community 4 being such stubborn kids
keep coding/hacking/testing super ants
Just to (hopefully) clarify for you; this is only the start of the early launch phase, there is much more to come, including:
- More data, from partners, builders, and end users
- Tokenomics updates
- Which includes further node incentives (cough emissions cough)
- Builder incentives programs
Much fun!
And of course, we only have one side of the market at the moment, so no real pricing of data either. All of that start to change as the above kicks in, and then of course as we TGE.
But for this moment, (this week), steady is just where we want to be, building that base.
If you take a look at the max supply we have minted at the mo, it should give you an idea of what we have allocated for this period.
holy smokes I had noticed but didn’t realize that it was related.
Thanks Jim, I think that I understand the big picture now.
It is kinda complicated TBH, getting it as close to the real network economy as possibkle but without launching the actual token, and also graduallty ramping up etc. Lots of leavers. But 'tis just the beginning!
On the website https://autonomi.com/ there’s a really clear call to action to launch a node, which makes it very simple to get started - great!
But the main thing most people will want to do as a first step will be to view content / browse / get a vibe of it. Consumption is also free, whereas starting a node requires some commitment of resources.
The webpage doesn’t seem to tell me how to download a file from the network, as in, which software to download and what commands to run. Maybe a call to action next to ‘Start a node’, something like ‘Browse the network’ with a link to the software needed to browse and some starting links to easily copy paste and get some content (freely licensed images / videos / documents etc).
I guess this has been held back due to the team’s laser focus on the core network, which perhaps needed to come first.
Whatever the reason, the lack of ‘tangiblity’ of the network throughout the beta program seems like a significant missed opportunity to me, but maybe it’s for the best (no cart before horse).
Hopefully progress on the APIs, the release of the first app, and focus shifting to the builder program will start to change this pretty soon.
