It needs to start again, but no notion of banning on the network.
Again, no banning.
Think of shunning as ignoring. It’s like being disconnected at the KAD level and needing to bootstrap again and so on.
I really must get an AI on our docs so people could interrogate in depth all the workings of nodes and clients. It would help everyone immensely I think.
Could be, that would be right. Now watch as folk gather scripts to reset their nodes every X seconds to get around it It’s all a good test as folk look at the whole thing from particular viewpoints. It all helps with testing though to try and figure out what works and what does not.
Network damaging scripts incoming, but that is what we need to cope with really. Folk will act very quickly to try and game any part of the network, but in saying that shunning is an area that will be worked on forever I think, unless we get a neural network that is open ended in there to adapt and evolve on it’s own. Interesting times.
For now it’s maybe ok, but if the idea is not only short lived nodes, then they should be able to recover.
Could there be some period when the stunned nodes would be given a chance to recover? Maybe stunned first for something like one hour. If not recovered in a day, then stun forever.
The nodes are distributed over the Globe, there certainly will be cutouts between nodes.
It would probably help to classify node failures. For example, being offline temporarily doesn’t necessarily prove misbehavior, whereas returning an incorrect chunk hash does.
The same as if a student is absent during an exam, it’s different than being present and providing incorrect answers to the exam and failing.
Then with the failure modes classified, how to handle them would be easier to determine. A non-misbehavior failure could receive grace and automatically work its way back into full status, whereas a misbehaving failure could be permanently shunned and require reset.
This is happening because, while there is ‘a single source of truth’ scattered through the conversations noted in this forum over time, the Documentation really is lacking.
The new Whitepaper is a start, however it needs more pictures and perhaps animations to explain HOW the Autonomi Network actually works, so as newcomers join, their comprehension levels rise quickly.
Otherwise the growing Tsunami of questions as new members join will not subside, it will just keep growing.
Sure I’ll help out between my day job and tending to my squirrel, rabbit and bird backyard nature preserve and the dachshund/doxie/wiener dog chasing them!
Equality to me is more to do with how we treat people, not how much they earn or don’t. I think there is way too much focus on equality where the question needs to be equal in what way?
As humans we are all equal humans in terms of being born and dying, so there is equality. Some are born in countries with much more freedom or ability to create companies, or places where you can innovate and be supported, but innovation is actually pretty universal, but the ability to commercialise or benefit from innovation is geographically dispersed.
The ability to create companies, or innovate in areas that need cap ex is defiantly not equal, The ability in the UK to succeed is for sure hampered by the public sector whereas the USA has a much higher capacity for support etc.
The inequality of those who are unable to work hard or innovate out of poverty compared with somebody born to wealthy parents is certainly very true.
So I think perhaps the equality of success is only good for humanity and we should strive for that
In terms of folk who won’t work, then yes that is an issue when they want financial equality with those who do or just take from those. However that’s a very hard thing to categorise.
Anyway I won’t go on, but I think equality of what is much more the question, then the answers are very very complex and no society in history seems to have solved it, but we have to try.
Nothing can be equal in its self, but only in its opposite. The balance is found in the battle. In this way every thing is as it should be, and the universe is perfect. This is the way of zen.
Example: there is always a war going on inside of you and me. Your immune system is fighting everyday to keep the bad stuff from taking over. But without the bad stuff, your immune system would be too weak to fend off a simple cold. The equality of immunity cannot exist without its opposite, because their inseparability is the equality. Hence we are healthy, and even unaware of the battle going on inside of us. In the same way the universe is healthy or perfect with all of its opposites.
Like yin and yang, there are 2 sides to everything. One cannot even exist without the other. There is always a conflict to maintain equality. Cheers
Yes, most of the current ones were previously upstarts who did compete and win, google, meta etc. Then apple, Nvidia etc. were small scrappy startups. Now though they are huge. I also think though in the next short while we will see a new batch of upstarts who make it big.
However all of these companies have acted in bad faith and have killed off many small companies. Google had a terrible reputation for offering to buy wee companies and then during due diligence they just ripped off and copied all the tech and left the companies in the dust and they were supposed to be the good guys.
If the price goes down enough that might at least shrink the network a bit to a level where it’s easier to debug and resolve the connection issue stuff =D
