I think we’re two years from it. And not because pressure will come from the public to use such networks, but because apps will use it and then so will users by way of using the apps, and they likely won’t know or care what’s going on behind the scenes.
It really doesn’t work very well from behind a crappy router. Another network might.
Kinda debatable if this convo is on topic?
At this point we may as well rename it and start a new trading topic
You think it’s debatable
How about being a filecoin provider by using Autonomi network to store the data?
That would be very costly, given storage on Filecoin is basically free, because it’s a by-product of a mining process… which is the same for Autonomi right now, but it should become a proper market for data once demand is enabled and incentives/emissions are less dominant.
Well, that suggests additional independent development teams who aren’t sharing code too. Private walled gardens with secret code… yuck!
Alternatively, all networks will get those improvements anyway.
I dont think so, we dont need necesary retail for it, we need big company with big data that share part of his data for one time payment to our network (and then retail will use it, even If they dont know they use it)
I also think this is one of the best forums I’ve been a part of. Yes, there is some nastiness occasionally, but the vast majority of comments & interactions are respectful, which is great.
I also think there’s far more support and encouragement for the team, who are basically revered as heroes by most here, so I am a little surprised when you say you feel some stay away due to feeling it’s a threatening place. Though I can understand there’s probably too much happening on the forum for the team to keep up with, and when they’re busy, browsing here won’t be a priority.
Maybe we need to get back to a weekly community curated list of concise, well formatted ideas and concerns that the community would like to respectfully highlight to the team to seek feedback on? Might that be helpful?
I think this is true, but where they are expected to comment is mostly where they likely feel they need to defend decisions.
Probably gets old real fast.
Some bloke on the internet wants me to defend a team decision… again.
Seems like some recent blow-ins here feel the need to make their mark and do some shouting.
One thing I am ignorant of is just how many PRs you have raised to support your claim of being so technically superior to the rest of us? Please let us know soon.
The rest of your ego-self-pleasuring rant and attempt to tell us all how this forum is run merely makes me ponder “Why has such a brain as this not got his own project to work on? Or was he flung out of one for being an arse?” Did his old project get fed up of his disdain for others who apparently are only useful for choosing the colour of the logo?
Anyway, @born2build (what a pretentious username BTW), well done on being competent in Rust and other languages (allegedly - because so far there is zero proof). Have a hearty three cheers from the rest of us.
I made the perfectly reasonable assertion that the current course of testing has been shown to distort the economics to the detriment of 99% of the rest us. Along the way valuable results were gathered that have given the devs (the real devs, not the suddenly arrived self-proclaimed tech gurus) plenty meat to work on for the next few days, weeks.
Would it not be reasonable then to reduce the RandomRewards and use some of that ANT to reward a far larger number of the community who will up/download and generally poke other corners of the envelope? Increase participation, make the non-coders a valuable part of the operation as well? Actually test and stress the code beyond simply the ability to scale?
Instead I get treated to a character assassination by some nobody who wants to “improve the technical tone” of the forum.
As others have said there is a Dev forum. Away and play with yourself in there - well until you meet the real brains in there and then we will see where the conversation goes. Could be entertaining…
As for the merits of my plan, a quick scan of the intervening posts shows support for my approach from @neo at least.
I suggest our very recent arrival familiarises himself with @neo’s reputation in here and only then should decide if he thinks its a good idea to call him wrong on this.
PS just a thott… Does the vehemence of the rant from @born2build possibly suggest that he himself is the one with all these racks who is profiting from this? #JustAThott
I’m really glad to hear that your body is recovering. Experiencing illness is a pain that can’t truly be understood without going through it. Once again, I sincerely wish you good health.
Personally, I believe that the feedback a community can provide to a core group deeply immersed in a specific project with a strong sense of responsibility is quite limited. This is because most advice has likely already been considered, experienced, or deemed unfeasible within the group for specific reasons.
Therefore, I think that if one truly wants to help a project, the most practical way is not just offering feedback or advice but rather creating something concrete that the project can actually utilize.
You are such an angry person
you are so enigmatic - but I love you for it
Do remind me when I have ever been angry with you?
If you are not angry with one parasite making off with the majority of the funds that were supposed to increase participation and reward those who contribute to the project then perhaps its YOU who needs to re-evaluate…
Anyhow peace and love and heres to a network for all, by all.
At least he doesn’t have a gun!
I don’t need a gun, a lampost and length of piano wire^ is quite sufficient.
^ it doesn’t wear out like normal rope
In general, companies are subject to serious regulation especially if they work with customer data, so I said 10-20 years until public pressure to change the laws and allow the use of decentralized networks for business data.
I’m sure there will be countless little apps that will allow you to use the network in a few months, the serious business is decades away, and it keeps the users… Forget about this generation changing its habits. Maybe the next one.

interesting, so u saying company cant by law, upload data to dec.storage, even if it would be safe autonomi?
I say that there is no serious company with a lot of data that would do it and risk being crushed by the law, this is also the reason why most companies do not accept directly crypto.
I am sure that there will be enough small companies with some data to be subsidized to have data on the network plus small groups of users to use small apps.
I expect that the mass of users will be speculators and farmers, people with established habits will migrate when large companies migrate or when generations change.

it seems to me like problem with law, I mean, if there was really certainty that dec. storage is safe, then cant be this potentional conflict be lost at court
