[⚡️Action Required⚡️] Notice to all MaidSafeCoin ($MAID) holders

Back in 2018 I put some MAID in a cold/paper wallet via omniwallet.org. I don’t care to trade until Safe Network Token swap is available.

  • From all I’m reading here, I think I can just continue to keep MAID in my paper wallet?
  • I do have a Trezor now and debating if I should move MAID from my paper wallet to Trezor, but not sure if there is a good reason to do that? Or even how to go about it? Would I need to go through Bittrex to do the transfer and pay fees?

If you are happy with keeping it on your paper wallet then keeping it there is your safest option. If for any reason you want to move them then make sure you understand the process before starting and I’d suggest moving a small amount first to ensure your understanding of the process is correct. Move to then move from.

Paper wallets are as secure as the security of your recorded keys.

If its in a paper wallet then Bittrex play no part in moving your MAID to the Trezor. Only the std BTC fee to move OmniMAID.

In addition to what @Southside said, you would

  • create an omniwallet.org wallet
  • add an address for sending by importing your private key
  • transfer enough BTC for sending OMNI tokens (small amount) and if you try to send then omniwallet will show the amount of BTC needed.

But yes Bittrex have nothing to do with paper wallet, nor does omniwallet.org either for that matter till you import your private key(s) into it

Also, if you decide to move them to Trezor, make sure it is on a bitcoin address starting with 1 or 3, because addresses starting with bc are not supported by the OMNI protocol.

The only reason to move them is if you decide to sell in parts. This way you save yourself the work of creating a new cold wallet after each transaction.

Would anyone be kind enough to offer instructions on how to withdraw Omni Maidsafe from Bittrex global?

Currently following these steps will offer updates as I go through with it
1)create new legacy BTC address on LedgerLive
2)Go to bittrex and select “send” to the BTC address

Open question would be: How will we be able then use the ledger held Omni Maidsafe for eventual conversion to SNT?

Can’t help with ledger as I don’t have one but if you read nothing else make sure you read this

I would suggest that starting with “1” is best as this guarantees the most compatibility with the most s/w. For instance the omniwallet had issues with addresses starting with “3” for the longest time and I have never followed it up to know if they “fixed” it or not

i can confirm that addresses starting with a “3” have no issues for me, sending from bittrex to trezor through omni layer

I confirm as well address with 3 work fine with Omni wallet with trezzor

Ledger do not support omni protocol, your choice is either to use Trezor or paper wallet.

As said abive

To get snt, you may have to sign a msg proving you own said address, or possibly import your priv key to omni wallet, and send your maid to a burn address.

I’m currently unable to place new orders on Bittrex, so it looks like it’s game over. Is anyone else able to place new / edit orders?

End of an era!

I’ve been very happy with how Bittrex have conducted themselves during this shutdown.

Had no problems withdrawing MAID, had no problem making one last cheeky trade, and had no problem withdrawing remaining funds after trading halted.

For a well run exchange it is very sad to see them shutdown.

Wouldn’t call them a “well run exchange”… I had too many “incidents” with them over the 9 years as their client, they have zero respect for their customers and their funds.

I miss them already.
