Recording of MAID on the blockchain is sufficient proof of ownership (if you have the private key of your address.)
The OMNI protocol is open source so we can prove the MAID tokens are there.
So if the world collapses, as long as we keep copies of blockchain and protocols around, we can prove ownership. It could require some software development but it could be done.
In contrast, if an exchange disappears, there is not much we can do.
I would definitely prefer liquidity and ability to trade on an exchange. But the cost of creating such exchange that would need to be less than the cost of moving MAID out of Poloniex, or certain fraction of MAID held on an exchange.
What about cooperation with a Dex in development like the Enon?
Hey, how can you “cold store” MAID today? thanks in advance
You can store them on a bitcoin address for which you have or can access the private key, because you will need that when you want to move them.
So a bitcoin paper wallet works for example, but using a hardware wallet can be tricky because you may have difficulty getting the private key for an address (because that is what a hardware wallet is designed to keep secret). If you do want to use a particular hardware wallet, search this forum and you may find something suitable, but check carefully first.
And also no Segwit Bitcoin addresses, the Bitcoin public address should start with a “1”.
Search the forum for more info, Omniwallet.org may also have more info.
