Interesting piece from David Rosenthal, about (problems of) cryptos. It also contained the following observation of the anonymity of cash, that was new to me:
Anonymity for small transactions is important, but for large transactions it provides the infrastructure for major crime. In the physical world cash is anonymous, but it has the valuable property that the cost and difficulty of transacting increase strongly with size.
