I’ve been following SENS work for around five years now. They have many interesting projects. Worth supporting IMO.
Old news from late 2017 but I learned today that ethereum full chain nodes can only run on ssd (not on hdd). It’s slow enough on hdd that it can never fully sync.
It appears this performance issue is caused by Geth’s interaction with the Leveldb chaindata files.

An archive node does need 2+ TB of disk space, and that disk space cannot be HDD - it must be SSD for both full and archive nodes. Light nodes run fine on SD cards and HDDs.
That was true, but now this optimized client advertises HDD support.
I can’t argue with the plan … Just wondering if it’s possible to really trust what Dorsey’s involved with.
With summer uprisings in Cuba, the communist government has discovered ways to cut the internet off to millions of residents, so organized protesting on social media is near impossible.
Let’s take a step back to early last week when reports of the Cuban regime used China-made technology systems to block internet and cell phone service to prevent pictures and videos of what was happening on the ground published online near impossible for the outside world to see. The regime also blocked popular social media channels that would make organized protesting impossible.
French freedom protests against new passport decree.
A sensible move by the Cuban government - why let the Yankee propagandists have free rein?
Not a word of apology for the inhumane sanctions of the past SIXTY years simply because the people of Cuba rejected capitalism.
Venceremos!!!
I’d ask John Birch for your membership money back, he failed. Just like they did at the Bay of Pigs
Seems like Tor should work here too. I don’t know why they wouldn’t mention it here.
This reminds me… I haven’t heard about Open Garden, and Firechat, in a while. The last time I looked into what they were doing, they had offered some sort of crystal looking pendant that was a mesh networking device. I am trying to look it up, but can’t seem to find it. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t remember what it was called, or if they discontinued it, or what. Anyone else remember this device?
Haven’t heard of it, sounds interesting though.
Apparently it was called “Greenstone”, and it was discontinued not long after it was introduced.
I do remember this! They were distributed at a music festival and I think I heard about it on a Let’s Talk Bitcoin episode…?
I feel like @ioptio (Paige Peterson) had connections to OpenGarden and since she worked for Maidsafe for a brief time, FireChat had been brought up a few times.
Ah, yes. Look here. FireChat is like a cheap mobile version of MaidSafe - #7 by ioptio
Also @19eddyjohn75 always has his finger on the pulse.

I can imagine a lot of blackmailing has been achieved with this hack ![]()
It’s like a bunch of kids playing in the drawer with sharp knives. This is never gonna end well for anyone.
