What great ProjectSAFEnet features should we be sharing with others?

I clicked on this link, expecting a torrent of positives - we can do better than this!

Typing from my phone, so keeping it simple here:

  • Provides a full peer to peer global network, with every node having a uniquely addressible space, allowing any node to host data (and therefore code/applications), without any third parties. As vault persist when a user is offline, peers can still serve data when there is no connectivity. In short, the whole concept of client/server becomes redundant and every individual becomes a first class citizen on the network. Staggering, when you digest this fully.

  • Allows the creation of digital properties, accessible globally via unique addresses, which can be transferred securely between individuals, instantly, at low cost, with no middle men. Forget storing just a hash of a file on a blockchain - you can store even massive data files themselves!

  • Massive scalability, allowing data to flow where it is needed. Data which is in demand simply clones itself to where it is needed.

  • Secure, anonymous, uncensored, data network. More needs saying?

  • As nodes are first class citizens, massively distributed data processing is possible and encouraged. Why centralise when you can disperse easily? The results of the processed data are accessible to everyone, as the node’s data is always available.

  • Properly distributed and scalable as a result. No need to get every node to have consensus on everything, which is massively inefficient - instead, smart design decisions mean that small groups of nodes can achieve the same result. Hugely more efficient (many orders of magnitude) than blockchain technology and vastly more scalable.

What does all this mean? Blockchain tech will be superseded, distributed applications will become the norm, having to trust third parties with security will become a thing of the past, the concept of uploading data from a client to a server will become quaint… I could go on.

This technology is breathtaking. The potential is mind blowing.

Probably a complete waste of money. Brain to computer interfaces on the other hand are tomorrow’s keyboard and without privacy hackers will place keyloggers.

The brain is actually not private. The skull blocks certain signals but as technology becomes sophisticated enough that nanotech or perhaps some other mechanisms are used then brain to computer interfaces can become standard.

My guess is that there will be some nano scale transmitters invented sooner or later. Theoretically you could use injected nano scale transmitters to act as FMRI. As far as the computing capability 10 years from now I would guess that by then the human brain will be completely deciphered.

Obama actually is spending billions of dollars on that project and it’s probably going to bare fruit. It did not take long to map the genome and the brain is even more attractive of a target for understanding.

Maybe turn this into a contest with a prize if you want better ideas.

I have done extensive research on this matter. Without going into details [I don’t have much time right now and it would be another topic] I can tell you that predictions say:

Within the next ten years privacy will become extremely important to people, important enough that consumers will actually be paid for their personal data, as opposed to now where we give it away for free.

[I have links stored somewhere concerning privacy trends but don’t have time to find them right now. If there is more interest I can dig them up this weekend]

In regards to transparency, within the next 10 years transparency will be a thing forced only upon companies and will require them to publish extensive transparency reports. These trends are already happening. e.g. CSR’s (Company Social Responsibilities), manufacturing traceability requirements, financial publications, etc etc. I quickly found a few links showing current trends

In the future, the power will be in the hands of the consumer. [It already is but most just don’t know it.] It will be technological advancements such as SAFE that will set up correct systems that will force these changes to occur.

Please do, that would be quite interesting.

@Seneca here are 3 research reports on privacy trends:

Insights on governance, risk and compliance Privacy trends 2014 published by EY

Privacy in 2025: Experts’ Predictions A canvas by the Pew Research Center

Gartner, Inc. predictions 2014 & beyond

And here are three companies that currently pay users for their data.

I am of the opinion that this is just the beginning. SAFE is going to be something that will allow this trend to continue even further. @westleyd Just one of the great features of the SAFE Network is that it will eliminate the tracking of users and will give them back control of their data.
