Announcing awe v0.4.1

awe is a command line program for publishing websites to Autonomi and a GUI for browsing them.

For publishing, start with awe --help.

To browse just run awe.

Linux

awe has been used successfully on Linux Ubuntu and Mint among other distributions.

Windows

There is an installer for Windows which might be able to publish websites. Currently awe will not view websites on Windows, but I will be looking into that.

MacOS

There is a topic trying to get a build for MacOS here. Feel free to have a go and report your experience on that topic.

For anyone who would like a reason to put up a website other than to be part of something truly groundbreaking in the history of humanityā€¦ :thinking: :laughing:

A couple of ideas:

  • a page of links to files stored on the network. There is already a page of links to websites (built into awe) but it would help a lot of somebody collected links to uploaded files and kept a page updated listing them.

  • a home page for awe. I have been planning to do this but other things keep getting in the way. It can be very simple, say a screenshot and description, a short list of innovative features, and information on how to try it out on different platforms.

So thereā€™s a couple of ideas, but really anything at all is great. Be one of the first with an Autonomi website! :fire:

The community have plenty of nanos available to help with this it you donā€™t have enough yourself yet, so just ask.

Publii is an open source website generator you can use to make websites and even WordPress like blogs. Just announced, v0.46.

It is privacy focused open source (GPL-v3) and Iā€™m gonna be using it. Check it out:

Thank you, awe-some to be with you.
I slowed the banner a little to prevent unexpected seizures of site visitors :slight_smile:

Using awe has lifted my spirits, competing for a place on a leaderboard has distracted from the really exciting part of what we have going on here, that is not nanos or the manic pursuit thereof. (I fell victim like many others)

Highy recommend folk give this a try. :clap:

I have been using the basics with the website generator (getpublii.com) but will need a bit more time to read up
on getting the two, three pages (travel photos) on autonomi and perhaps a bit of help too.

Apologies for the crappy CSS and the incomplete list of existing AWE sites - Iā€™ll get that sorted tomorrow - away out for a meal and then a Thin Lizzy tribute band tonight so no keybd till breakfast.

Sorting the CSS and adding to the list of sites will be a good test of the cost of the ā€˜updateā€™ functiion in AWE

Thatā€™s the register bug Qi and I were working on last week. If you retry a few times it will probably work. Unfortunately the fix is still waiting to be merged so wonā€™t be in the next update (due this week).

Itā€™s strange, I get the same error sometimes, but after several attempts it works. Not sure what I should do to fix it. Just continue to ā€œawe publishā€ or should I try to do an ā€œawe updateā€?

Hey everyone, Iā€™m having trouble opening that specific page from @itsMC on the macOS web browser. When I try to access it, I get an error saying "Resource not found at /". However, I can access other pages without any issues, I will keep you posted if I have any clue what is going on!

Yeah, @itsMC needs to try uploading a few times.
