Here is your opportunity to help decide if the Price & Trading topic is made visible to search engines, AI scraping, and the public.
Its a simple yes, no, don’t care vote
Some in the Trading topic expressed views the topic should not be publicly visible due to the nature of the discussions, treating of the team, questioning them without backing that up and normal “fan boy” and FUD posts and “fights”. They feel it destroys confidence of the casual reader in the token.
The reason for keeping it public would include transparency amongst many other reasons.
As a Mod I would suggest if anyone has claims of the team not behaving above board to then take it to topics concerning that with whatever there is to back up those claims. A public trading topic really is not the place for that, but a topic laying out the claim with something backing it up is the place.
Poll - Make Price & Trading topic public
Please vote.
Yes, have Price & Trading publicly visible
No, keep the Price & Trading topic private to all signed in members of the forum
Candy, have no opinion, or do not strong enough opinion to choose either way, or just do not care enough
I voted yes, because I don’t come here for American politics, Israeli politics, so-called climate change, COVID propaganda, Ukraine warmongering or any of the other off-topic garbage that makes its way here. The token price is entirely relevant whether it disturbs people or not.
This is the new economy. I realize some people have a visceral hatred for blockchain and anything to do with money, but they are simultaneously pissing everybody off by tarnishing the concept of decentralization and making everybody not care about privacy. Absolutely make it visible.
At this stage, I can totally understand why they would. It’s not going to change the reality and will only further limit engagement. I’d rather see us limit all off-topic discussions. Can we not accomplish both? Hide the junk and make people ask for permission like in Discord? If this project really starts taking off, people are going to be begging for it to be pinned.
Not doing it tonight but I think that is a great idea. I absolutely cannot stand seeing all this crap I am forced to endure on X when I get here. Making the token topic opt in / out on sign up can’t be that hard. Opt in / out of categories altogether, etc.
We do not control the discord server, that is run by Autonomi themselves.
This is a community forum
It is run by community people.
The poll would not be here if the community was not going to be listened to. That’d be a waste of time.
Believe what you want, its your life.
If it is a close call then maybe we will run a second poll to explore alternatives to come to a compromise. Right at this time it is a close call, but I’d expect the gap between yes & no to widen as more people see the poll
I appreciate the appeal to the community for feedback, other than that, I have nothing good to say about this. We’re building a network to prevent censorship and the main forums discussing it are moving towards more censorship. And yes, because I already see the argument coming, moderation == censorship. You’re blocking people from seeing what was said because you don’t like it → censorship. And if you disagree, great! Say that you disagree. Or if you have a racist tirade or some other random thought that doesn’t connect, fine, do that. I want to see all of it. It doesn’t mean I have to care about any of it. If you do care, then you’re the problem, nobody else. To be clear, the only reason I’m here is because of the freewheeling nature of conversation here. If it was all positive or if it looked purposely curated, I would have passed this up years ago as just another crypto pump scam site.
The forum and the network are two different things. One is infrastructure, the other is community. The infrastructure should be accessible to everyone, the community only to people who want to participate in it.
There will also be communities on the network that govern themselves by their own rules that all participants have agreed to.
For example, I do not agree with the imposed positive direction of Discord and I stopped participating there.
Understood. My point is as a community, we seem to have bipolar disorder. On the one hand we’re promoting a network that will be free of censorship at the network level. Some truly horrendous things will be uploaded to this thing, and as a group. we’re ok with that. On the other hand, in the space in which we communicate and interact with each other, we’re discussing restricting views and opinions that don’t fit the majority’s vision of what acceptable discourse should be. I feel like we should practice what we preach, as much as possible.
