Upload Checker: Trust, but Verify

What kind quality control we have for nodes at the moment? You get shunned, if you don’t deliver the record at all, but does speed have a meaning there? Do we have any other criterion?

I’m seeing good things as well, but still a lot to be solved. My uploads are failing very often, and I have still been experiencing minimal data loss (that was during the way down from 25k to 16k nodes so probably justified).

Personally I cannot wait for the next update. Apparently we’re now at a weird stage were since the network shrunk this much, we have a fairly large percentage running on extremely old node versions.

I’m trying to upload a lot of data, but unfortunately it’s failing a bit too often to be efficient use of my time. I’m putting it on hold until the next release.

I had the mistaken impression this was already a thing even before last March but I also get that is s tricky problem and probably wasn’t as solid as expected.

It’s such an important feature, I did expect more. Let’s hope this can be tightened up now.

You would have expected this PR to take care of old versions, but apparently not:

I got confused. I have thought that every PR merged before a release would be incorporated into next release. And since that PR was merged before the last stable release, I thought it was effective, but that is apparently not the case.

Something I’ve just noticed is I seem to have a lottery machine. I have 5 machines running nodes but only one has received payments

How many nodes all together? I have 20 and no payments at all.

Between 100 and 150 on each machine

Uploads have slowed down a bit again, 200 nodes has gotten me 1 or 2 payments. Standard deviation is probably quite large on it, having 4 devices not have a payment is not alarming to me.

I’ve had 11 payments in the last 5 hours and all have gone to the same machine and the others have never earned anything except for emissions

Are they storing records at the moment? Do they have network activity?

They all have records and network activity but only the machine earning has live records. They all have around 70gb of data stored.

Edit: had 4 payments in the last hour for the machine earning that has 150 nodes running.

EDIT: I notice that some of my nodes are storing over 1.5GB too now, so we’re at about 5% of recommended storage size per node (35GB).

Did anyone have any ideas as to why 4 of my machines do not have a live record or any upload payments? The nodes that do have live records have between 50 and 250. Is this to do with them all being on the same ip address?

A honest network and honest nodes doing what they are meant to do! :tada:

The urge to build on it again grows. :slightly_smiling_face:
