Your right about the tx costs, but that’s alleviated by paymaster

Your also right about the demo probably being a testnet so test tokens

But in all honesty I’m speaking more about the sensibility of compressing as much mb’s as possible into 1 attos for uplaods. Uploads to the Network should never slow down, with

It can give a good feeling at first that somebody needs to buy the token to upload, but if noderunning can already give enough tokens for uploads. You don’t need exchanges aml/kyc and all the :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: every upload is another proof that the Network works and if it doesn’t, keep hacking until it does

If we’re not coding/uploading we are just simply wasting time

The ideal situation is when the Network is just like Replit, user ask ai to create a wallet/token and we can have fun experimenting

Btw @riddim do keep up the good work with Friends :exploding_head:

yes ant is the client

 the paymaster doesn’t pay for the TX fee himself - he just charges AUTONOMI with equivalent fiat value of the TX fees and sells those AUTONOMI for ETH to cover the TX cost

which would mean bundling files together and not uploading them 1 by one

(if I’m not mistaken indelible does simply upload them 1 by one for now and it’s just a ‘production ready’ interface in the sense of an official REST API that doesn’t change as often / with so many breaking changes as independent developments might do / with guaranteed support by maidsafe)

thank you very much for your kind words @19eddyjohn75  - I admire the positivity you are spreading and your energy

I don’t want to doubt it’s a great tool and super nice to see in action  just didn’t manage to keep my mouth shut when I saw those super tiny amounts; because it’s still cheap imho for one time fee storage (below 1c per file) but it’s not as tiny amounts as indelible suggests … because it ignores TX fees which amount for 1000x or more the cost in ANT …

Got it sorted, had to install using sudo to overwrite old files…thanks

Nice one glad you are sorted out

Only whales can get rewards, you need 100s, maybe 1000s of nodes to get rewards. There’s no use running nodes unless you have enormous resources. The website claims that you can use ‘spare’ capacity in your local device (even phones) to earn ants is just pie in the sky. It was briefly possible in the very early alpha releases of node software. This isn’t likely to change in the future from what I can figure.

you can earn rewards just fine with what ever you have lying around 2 old laptops are making me 40 ANT per day running 800 nodes each

I don’t think that’s correct because I’m sitting here looking at a page on arbiscan.io showing an address that I had a Raspberry Pi4 with 50 nodes pointed at (ok, so it’s not earned anything for 2 weeks because of ‘issues’ but if I fix that it will) and it was getting 0.056624628542436808 in Rewards every day for keeping the nodes running. Sometimes 0.113249257084873616. And the very occasional Earning of 0.000000005588721107 for a Record stored.

That’s not going to affect my pension plan much but I bet (without looking at the numbers) it might pay for the electricity even at todays Autonomi token prices.

But it will certainly pay for a lot of uploads.

I have a feeling there is a threshold of something like 50 nodes to earn anything. But that is eminently doable from home.

12 tokens earned in 4 months. Probably doesn’t pay the electricity for it actually at today’s token prices. But it might retrospectively some day… And that 12 tokens is probably enough for a few lifetimes of uploads. That’s got to be worth something if not at today’s prices then some day.

I am running 8 nodes w/ 35GB storage each via nodelaunchpad on this 2022 i7 12thgen with 16GB with PCIe 3.0 1TB NVME SSD 2280 strip, it’s my daily driver to telecommute to work Mon-Fri 9:00am to 5:00pm.. This unit was purchase USED for $350 CDN. (So called HP 5 )

The Autonomi/ANT nodes consume on average a range of 5%-10% of the CPU% resources, This never affects my daily interactions.

last 30 days despite the hiccup week I earned 30 tokens for quotes only, It pays for the electricity for this machine here in Ontario, Canada.

That said I have about 512GB real disk space to place with given Flash needs 20% to stay free at all times.

Imo , on this daily driver To earn any ANT of some decent amount for purposes beyond uploads, it means on this System doubling storage to TB and running at 30% to run 24 Nodes on this systems , which should leave enough performance for Daily Drive activities like email, browsing local WP use, Coding, compiling, etc…

A 1 TB Strip these days M2 2280 is $ 90.00 CDN, so that is the one time capex cost to add another 16 antnodes , each with 35GB of storage

Memory use steady state will jump to approx 1.2GB RAM, which is not used anyway in this hybrid daily driver config.

then one with expanded configuration is looking at earning 90 emission rewards on average monthly from 24 antnodes, so about 3 a day.

I will probably do this upgrade next month, after the node software upgrade, then start using some of my $Autonomi earnings to pay for a few uploads., using one of the tools emerging as stable for uploads and downloads.

My current HP 5 Laptop setup as described way above in this ‘steamer’ of a post..

oh yeah my ISP is Cogeco via a Hicom(CN) Cablemodem/router combo hdw link @ 80MIB up and 80MiB down now coexisting with my better half’s TV STreaming and Blogging Traffic, we are using all 4 IP addresses concurrently ( I have an older test laptop using an IP address on the modem, and we share a Wifi MobilePhone via the TextNow Service to take calls, its on most of the time.)

So it’s a max minimalist Autonomi home configuration serving one techie and one normal user sharing a wifi phone. My better half runs a Windows 11 ASUS ROG PC intel 13thGen I7 and will start running 16 Autonomi nodes each with 35GB and will start doing uploads next month too.

Here is the 30 day check on Arbiscan to validate the emission earnings count…

Yeah I typed ANT out with BTC and ETH in a small live stream and the guy was like “ANT? What the hell is ANT?”

I am getting 50 ANT per day running almost 3k nodes

Also 800 nodes on old laptop? I need quite beefy machine to run 800 nodes.

I like beefy laptops

Friends, I’m confused by the messages… Please tell me if the network works for uploading/downloading, what works in it and what doesn’t. I’m developing the architecture of a decentralized network for labeling data for AI. And I want to suggest my team to use the network in this architecture for uploading/downloading labeled data. But I’m confused by the messages that the network works/doesn’t work… the data is uploaded/not uploaded. Tell me, what types of data are uploaded/downloaded and not lost in the network?

network is working fine for uploads and downloads. since main net went live not one single chunk of data has been lost.

here is a collection of downloads you can test with all linux iso’s. install the ant client and test them out .

Thank you so much for your reply. Tell me, please, I’ve seen reports that there are some problems with the Scratchpad data type. How are things going now?

@riddim can answer best on that front as he is using them for his Autonomi based messaging app Friends.

I believe they are working at the moment but with a write speed of around 10s

Thank you so much for your attentiveness. @riddim, can you tell more or add something to this? I will be very grateful to you.
