The former is nearly as stupid as the latter only YYYY-mm-dd [HH-MM-SS[.xxxx]] makes any sense . . especially WRT naming conventions . .
One of the problems here involves forms of communications. When you tell someone your birthday you certainly don’t say “two-thousand-two August zero-three”, you say “August third, two-thousand-two”, but using “2002-08-03” in software development, op sys directory listings and spreadsheet calculations certainly has its advantages.
