Why do they need a digital ID?
There are already multiple forms of identification and you need a national insurance number to get paid through PAYE.
If they create a CBDC, it will just increase demand for a shadow currency (probably some form of stable coin) which will be exchanged for cash by the willing.
Nope. It’s just another way to track everyone else, under the guise of stopping immigrants. A similar theme to ‘think of the children’.

It’s a good point why they need another ID, but I think this digital ID will be mandatory for everyone to have and have it with them, like in some countries already. Yes, it will be used for tracking. Used along side a CBDC it will allow them to have more tools to manipulate the economy and reward or punish us for our behavior. They could have different interest rates for different types of people. They could make it so our ID has to be used with every transaction which can then choose to allow us to buy something or not, for example a plane or train ticket.
With the fiat system breaking down people will try and leave that system. For it to survive they have to create a system we can’t leave.
I agree and hope that if they try this it only accelerates adoption of bitcoin. A CBDC is east Germany when the Berlin wall was built, Bitcoin is west Germany - freedom.
