Will it be possible to run the Maidsafe application from a USB without installing any files so that it can be run on administrator controlled PCs?

Be warned that administrator controlled PCs can include a policy to prevent programs from being run from USB and from booting up from foreign devices (eg dvd, usb, etc)

Iāve only had trouble running the Integral Crypto .exe from my encrypted USB when I was working on military sites, which is understandable I guess!
Everywhere else has seemed to allow the execution of .exe files from the USB, although autorun is usually disabled so you have to do it manually.

Well one of the utility companies Iāve done contract work at had their SOE preventing that. It really depends on the company.
Searching portable apps gives me some topics that explain what and how I think, and have links to info about and lists of existing portable apps that could be used right away.
What is it that you are looking for?
Here are the first three search results I got:
With the advent of SAFE as a mountable disk (safe-vfs): First version :
ā¦ in the above post David has mentioned using virtual SAFE Drives which mount public files directly on your device, to create a public (immutable, unhackable) share of Portable Apps.
This topic is a place to discuss Portable Apps and to suggest actual existing portable apps to host on a public drive, so anyone can access a particular portable app just by logging into SAFE and mounting the drive. No install needed.

Iām scratching my head about the different ways Apps can be implemented and used with SAFE Network. Here are some thoughts, and the questions arising for meā¦
Types Of SAFE App
unchanged App: an existing software that saves and loads data to a local drive, but where the user loads and saves directly from/to SAFE Network by choosing a Virtual SAFE Drive (VSD) virtual drive, using some MaidSafe software that presents SAFE network account and storage as a virtual drive on the local device/PC. Itād have to be 1:1 usable to be fair, so if you share 400 GB, youād get a right to PUT 100 GB.
As I mentioned in other topics, we have to remember that each PUT-ed file is copied fourfold so if you upload 100 GB youāll take up 400 GB from the network.
There are other important details which were mentioned elsewhere (I think also in this one ). For example, if you delete 50 GB of your content but the network in v1.0 canāt delete, youād still have to share the peak amount of space (400 GB) evenā¦
They are all posts/topics by me but I searched āallā and the were the first three results, honest!

Sorry, my poor wording. What I meant was that I tried a few search terms before posting (ārun from USBā, āstandaloneā, etc.).
After you suggested āPortable Appsā I was able to find what I was looking for. Sorry for the confusion!
