That’s useful. Is the cost of ShapeShift good, relative to other exchanges?

It depends what you mean by “relatively good”.
If you could check shapeshift.io and coinmarketcap.com and let us know, that would be great.
No KYC/AML and no exchange hassle commands (as it should) some premium over Polo and other statists.

Fees
With ShapeShift, what you see is what you get. The exchange rate shown is exactly what you’ll receive, minus only the “miner fee.” There is no exchange fee, or service fee.
What’s your fee structure?
We don’t have a set markup, as our rate next to adjust for depth and spread considerations on particular pairs and markets. This means the amount that ShapeShift makes on any particular transaction varies based on the current market conditions. Depends on the liquidity and spread of that particular market ShapeShift’s fee usually falls in the range of about 0.5-1% or so.
What exchange rate do you use?
The exchange rate is our own, derived from several market sources and based on the amount we feel comfortable exchanging at that fixed rate (whether you do small or large order, the rate stays the same - no slippage). We earn a profit to the extent we can source coins in other markets for a lower cost to replenish our reserves.
How do I know the price at which my order will be filled at?
Our price has no “slippage.” This means your entire order processes for the fixed exchange rate shown on the site. This is different than a normal order book exchange, where the “last price” may be one thing, but the actual price you get will be different, since your order will be executed against several other orders with different prices. This makes it harder to calculate the true price on a normal exchange, and means that people typically end up with a worse rate then they thought. We resolve this by having a fixed rate for the whole order (no slippage).

This is great.
I just bought some MAID yesterday afternoon on Masterxchange and still haven’t received the withdrawal to my external omniwallet address.
Purchased some MAID on shapeshift.io this morning and had the MAID in my own possession within less than an hour.
I know where I’m going in the future, for sure!!

I really like Shapeshift, they are the fastest and easiest way to buy maid. Also are anti regulation and made it clear that they will not be comprimising thier users by collecting sensitive data due to their outspoken stance on the bit license. Im not sure what master exchange plans are now but we have AML and KYC legislatory pressures from the governments. Even poloniex has restricted withdrawals on unverified accounts to certain limits. Unlike poloniex and master exchange, Shape shift does not hold any of the users coins or store any data. So its basically a peer to peer exchange that prevents systemic risk from causing another mt gox disaster.
