SAFE Network Dev Update - April 30, 2020

Psychiatrists are the worst kind of idiots, inflicting their stupidity on others. I’ve no interest in trying to fool anyone. If you’re fooled, then perhaps you are projecting

I call out nonsense where I see it and counterpoint faux challenges with a dose of reality and will continue to do so. The instagratification make-no-contribution and what something-for-nothing crowd, will whine and on occasion squeal but who cares…

Those properly invested in this project understand the utility and are not chasing a quick profit, we need quality not a quick opportunity to pump a market and there’s a difference. Yes, development might be frustrating to the cowboyz playing markets for profit on the back of no contribution but feeding leeches are not why projects exist… they play their part as do all the other variety of animals out there but to chase quick rewards over robust outputs, misses the point.

Privacy; Security; and Freedom, are too important to sell out. Instead of taking ineffective digs at others, spend time productively seeking bugs and improvements.

And to deliver in a real way requires that a a lot of “stuff” that has never been attempted before is completed - without errors. That lot of “stuff” has been whittled down to a fairly small list now and there are still areas in which it may make more sense to proceed in a direction other than what seemed obvious when the plan was conceived. Cos along the way more stuff got learnt or became obvious .
Again it can only be repeated - It will be ready when its ready.

Yes of course we all hope that is soon. But it will be ready when its ready and not before. If you want to help, then test what has been released, try to break it and if you are really good, try to find ways to fix it again. But pontificating about “you need to deliver” is going to get you treated like the rest of the loser trolls.

Aaaaand it might make more sense to complete an SLD as mentioned here that will inevitably cause some delay. Hopefully the community can minimise that but we dont know yet. Again I bet this is something no other project has ever had to tackle before. Should it have been done before? Yeah maybe it should. But we are where we are. So lets try to find constructive ways of moving forward.

EDITED to point to the SLD issue

This is the same discussion we had a couple of weeks ago and I have been trying to find ways with @Sotros25 to help with marketing and money, it’s the only true value I can currently add. I will keep my quips about others to myself because they don’t serve any purpose. I find a lot of the forum stuff ironic though as this is suppose to essentially be a libertarian internet network, free of constraint and judgements but sometimes those that respond (not speaking about you) have a hostile way of doing it and it’s ineffective. People are trolling? Who cares. People are bashing timelines? Who cares. All engagement is good and if the network gets done in a reasonable amount of time haters will have to eat their words, that’s all.

Yes there are certainly parallels and I thank you for the value you are trying to add. I hope your discussions with @Sotros25 are fruitful.

I have to hold my hand up and admit I have been guilty of this in the past - trying to be a better citizen now #OneDayAtATime

We are all guilty at one point or another but being a constant repeat offender doesn’t do any good. Enjoy your evening.

The day after he finally sells, the price will rocket.

hey @david-beinn, I am sure this should be working fine but I’ll recheck with a couple of websites to confirm this. If this doesn’t work as expected, I’ll log an issue in the GitHub repo for triage.

I haven’t tested this scenario is last couple of release but I’ll get back on this after few rounds of testing.

Thanks @ravinderjangra!

The ttf files are loading fine on desktop browser (via shared section) so my suspicion is that something funny might be going on with mobile.

The /xyz parts of the address is a variable in my instance so it might be something funny with my site (and suspicious that it doesn’t work on desktop either,) but it works fine on chrome through localhost, and from memory worked fine on alpha 2, so I don’t know. I’ll be testing my site again this week so I’ll put another page in with a non variable route and see if that works.

Could you please paste the website addresses you trying?

@jaco
Gouda123, get a fucking hobby.

its safe://octopustest

If you type something into the search box you’ll get something for the /xyz value, if you type ‘maidsafe’ you’ll get something you can click on!

If you click on that and try and come back, you’ll see the page won’t load again.

edit: should have tagged you in this one as well @ravinderjangra

This is one of those obvious “Why didn’t I think of that!?!” points

Logged an issue here. If someone clicks on it that isn’t connected to the MaidSafe shared section, and so therefore doesn’t have the site on whichever section they are connected to, I’ve suggested we fall back to the forum link.

Managed to find the actual static file I uploaded and the file path doesn’t seem to work even in chrome for that, so probably something on my end with that one, sorry for the false alarm. Still can’t see a reason for the font files not working though.

Bit late but I just saw that @nbaksalyar has left. I wish you all the best in the future! Your contribution to the project was monumental, hope you are proud

Funny thread! Suspicions confirmed once again!

Keep plugging away maidsafe! The steady progress will lead to results. Those tasks keep getting ticked off the list and the results will soon start to mature and then flourish. The team have much to be proud of, so please ignore the negativity and keep delivering - they will be silenced in the long run.

P.s. imo, the scaling down of the team has made the connection much greater with the community. There is a real spirit here and less obsession with price and lambos - all positives, IMO!
