Seems this project won’t have release candidates but betas that don’t lose data.

Read what was said again this is an alpha version for the next version of beta. It is being run in parallel, but separate, with the current beta version.

EDIT: sorry I am late to party and its been answered already

I just did, should’ve done so earlier.
Not sure why it wasn’t clear to me the first time.

Actually checked to see if it has since been edited to make more sense which it hadn’t so it is all me.

In my defense I have been up since 3.30am and I am going to blame it squarely on that.

yet.

I think down the line we will.

Yesterday I got stuck with my app and asked @Joshuef for help on how to use the files uploader API. Turns out it didn’t do what I needed, so I went to walk the :dog2:

When I got back kaboom :boom: there’s a PR in the merge queue that solves the issue and more.

Not a trivial PR either, it was beyond me but @roland knocked it over like a master which means I’ll be able to carry on today.

And he put sprinkles on top

Special mention to @bochaco for the fast review, @Jason_Paul for his part and @joshuef for a great team response.

MaidSafe are awesome!

Here’s the PR for anyone scratching their heads over the upload API.

Tis awfully quite round these parts.

Is this an appropriate place for Pre-Bux-n-Jim-Announcements too? or should I start a new thread.

Did I hear correctly during the Discord stage there is an announcement tomorrow?

Yes, it’s in the discord announcements as well.

That’d be a good idea. Have all of them in one thread, either one episode per post and NO COMMENTS or wiki as OP with the list and suggest no preview on each link and allow comment posts

EDIT: I made a boo-boo I was talking of their episodes of Bux n Jim Maybe that should be Bex n Jum

Somebody said “Reward” in a PR…

GUI or TUI for managing nodes?

I would love to just push start and get the optimal amount of nodes and start up interval

That will be needed for the general public, most definitely. The perfect engineering solution, a start button and one light to say all is good.

Code says it’s using Ratatui

From github:

Ratatui is a crate for cooking up terminal user interfaces in Rust. It is a lightweight library that provides a set of widgets and utilities to build complex Rust TUIs. Ratatui was forked from the tui-rs crate in 2023 in order to continue its development.

From the repo the TUI, backending to safenode-manager, will start/stop/report about nodes at a minimum:

Same (ratatui) as vdash. Maybe a version could use a rework of vdash if anyone fancies a neat Rust project.

CLI or TUI or GUI for managing nodes?

Why not all three? (at some point)

Most work (dogfeeding our API/service management) will be directly portable to any GUI setup we get towards. But Aim is on iteration speed at the moment!

Sure. The point of my posts was to gain clarification because we had been promised GUI for the beta. I think things are clearer regarding rewards beta networks. Longer term less so.

Back to priorities, on testnets from my perspective we haven’t had something I could upload to for a while. First it was the faucet and with PunchNet I’ve had very little success when I tried, which seems to be an issue for others as well. I’m hoping for a useful and sustained test soooon! I’m not sure if that’s due to issues with the hole-punching feature, but it seems so.

For development everything is fine. Local testnets work well but it would be great to have this with public tests.
