I just read something about verifying a twitter account (‘blue tick’).
Maybe that is an idea to counter the spam problem?
But it could be that the MaidSafe account tweets are also ‘cryptocurrency ads’ according to Twitter…
Edit → probably no problem, for example the official Ethereum twitter account has also a blue tick.

Hi thanks for this. Unfortunately the verification process is currently closed. Once it opens again I will try and get us a blue tick and until then we will continue to report these scams as they come in. I have spoken with the Cybercrimes unit here too and hope they may be able to help

Reported. Thanks for your vigillence. Most spammers only last a few hours now cos people report them as soon as they pop up. We seem to be slowly winning this war of attrition.

totally fell for one earlier, was thinking bit of an odd announcement almost like spam but must be ok because it’s Maidsafe. Luckily I had no ETH to hand, will be more careful now.

When people are reporting these spammers what are they using? I’m just wondering if we all use the same method if it’d bring attention to them faster or not.
