[Offline] Another day another testnet

PUTs still going strong for me. No errors yet.

I wonder if it affects download speeds.
Do @peca have fresh data about it?

like @SmoothOperatorGR I have several copies of a script uploading 9Mb of random junk running in a couple of Hetzner nodes.
I have nodes in Nuremberg and Helsinki right now, I will put a couple of others up in Falkenburg and the USA. All are on min spec CX11 1vCPU 2Gb RAM and 20Gb disk. When the network starts accepting nodes I will add 50Gb volumes mounted on ~/.safe/node/

Im not convinced running several copies on one node will increase the actual amount of data written to the network - its possibly limited by outgoing bandwidth at Hetzner. Thoughts?

EDIT: Looking at the network traffic graphs for the nodes shows there IS a benefit in running the upload scripts in parallel - so now I have 10 copies running on each of 2 nodes. I will stop one to take a snapshot and clone another couple of servers from that.

I don’t see big difference. (Time is in UTC):

Is there any word on how full the original nodes are?
Are they all behaving themselves?

Is anybody uploading anything worth downloading/capable of being verified?

There are two sides to this story, so far we seem to be doing well with the upload side.

Not me. Just random blobs at the mo

can try any of these

safe cat safe://hy8oycypiouw8toboe4q71cadijctz64iterk8143xshc6nxupmhdzb8usc

should give you a list of my uploads from take 2

Damn, I think I just saw my node joining, but got too excited and tried to copy-paste the terminal info… with CTRL+C

:disappointed_relieved: :disappointed_relieved: :disappointed_relieved:

This is what it said:

Node PID: 18638, prefix: Prefix(), name: bba777(10111011).., age: 5, connection info:
"0.0.0.0:56300

Re-started the joining, and all I get now is the good old:

The network is not accepting nodes right now. Retrying after 30 seconds. Node log path: /home/topi/.safe/node/local-node/

Did someone else get in? Did I break it?

EDIT:

I have a chunk folder with: 1 139 items, totalling 104,2 MB. It does not seem to receive any more…

No! I am getting more, now: 1 187 items, totalling 108,5 MB

… and my memory use seems to be stable.

Hmm… I still have an ongoing join process going on, what should I do with it? Can it ruin something? If I close my terminal window, what happens? Does my node still keep going on in the background?

Is it just me or is an army filling the network with random junk a few steps outside of scope? :grimacing:

Maybe not idk, but perhaps we need more definitive guidelines for each test.

Something’s off? … not finding what did exist as safe://uni2

$ safe files get safe://uni2
Error:
0: ContentNotFound: Content not found at safe://uni2

I’ve been getting:-

Failed to connect: ConnectionError: Failed to connect to the SAFE Network: NetworkContacts(“failed to make initial contact with network to bootstrap to after 3 attempts, result in last attempt: Err(NoResponse { msg_id: MsgId(2058…9a69), peers: [Peer { name: 56e8c3(01010110)…, addr: 143.110.168.239:12000 }, Peer { name: 38608b(00111000)…, addr: 142.93.38.111:35572 }, Peer { name: 1364f4(00010011)…, addr: 161.35.42.123:44021 }] })”)

for about the last 40 mins.

I was uploading 1000 1MB files sequentially and it was about 200 files through the list.

If it was me who broke I am sorry. :frowning:

No apologies… the way it reacts to alsorts of stresses needs to be tested… hopefully more of those will be graceful going forward.

Does look like unavaliable network, rather than my file, which I take as encouraging…

It is perfectly natural reaction to hiding joins behind 50 GB wall.

I have heard of a buy wall and a sell wall now I think you just invented the “Join wall”
