I’d say NRS is trustless, but it doesn’t have a suitable way of distributing the names. And having a suitable way of distributing the names with NRS seems to require trust (as per OP).
If focus is on launching an MVP (and an MVP doesn’t require NRS in my opinion), I’d say shelf the idea for now, provide a plug-in interface for name resolution, and let the community work it out. NRS could be a plugin, sure, but tieing SAFE too much to a flawed system like this is asking for trouble.
