Oh… I see, for some reason I missed this valuable topic, that’s why I replied like this, because I thought this was your first thread on communication, sorry you probably know better than me how instant messaging works
Delta chat, is certainly a very “attractive” solution for building an instant messaging concept but only a version that works with Iroh/IPFS p2p technology, also thanks to the ability to build applications in the language of your choice, including Rust. In this respect Delta chat has a lot to offer, but in SimpleX the level of privacy and security is uncompromising, with integration would probably be much more complicated.
Great find. ty for sharing. The worry on the reddit post about JAMI not running properly or at all in the background on mobile devices has to do with the JRE, which needs to be is setup in high priority on the mobile OS, easier to do on Android, a bit of mystery to me on the iPhone,
The mobile device must have enough memory to run the JRE and JAMI so not every small memory 4GB or so smartphone with an older processor will be able to handle JAMI,
otherwise though, I think JAMI is worth a short sprint integration with AN ‘what if’ mental exercise,
as Jami will easily run on older i5 10thgen intel 4 Core 8 thread systems with just 8GB while running three nodes , on a very fat MSWIN11 2H2024 (4GB just to boot) which is what I do at the moment. With linux you get 3GB RAM back on the same system, and if you have say 512GB SSD (2x 2456GB strips in my case) installed you can easily run 12 antnodes, JAMI and regular desktop apps. (Brave, Browser MSOffice365, gsuite etc…) and a few local apps.
I am switching this system back to Linux in fact this weekend ;).
