MAID/eMAID to ANT Airdrop Update

:loudspeaker: MAID/eMAID to ANT Airdrop Update :loudspeaker:

Hey everyone!

We’re excited to share more details about the upcoming MAID/eMAID to ANT airdrop. Here’s what you need to know:

:one: Burn and Airdrop Process:
To participate in the airdrop, MAID (Omni) holders will follow a burn-and-drop process and eMAID (ERC20) holders will receive an airdrop following a snapshot:

MAID Holders:

  • You’ll need to sign a message from your Omni wallet to confirm ownership, then burn your MAID tokens.
  • Once verified, the equivalent amount of ANT will be airdropped to your Arbitrum wallet.

eMAID Holders:

  • eMAID holders holding tokens at the snapshot will receive their ANT tokens to the same wallet containing their eMAID.

:two: No KYC Required:
We’ve kept this process simple! There’s no KYC or additional personal information required to participate.

:three: Detailed Step-by-Step Guides Coming Soon:
We’ll provide detailed instructions and tools to make the burn-and-airdrop process as easy as possible for everyone.

:four: Timeline:
The airdrop process will begin shortly after the Token Generation Event (TGE). We’ll share specific dates and additional details as we get closer to launch. So please do not burn any tokens prior to further announcements and guides.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask here. We’re here to help! There will be a landing page released along with the detailed guides.
Thank you for your support as we make this exciting transition to ANT! :rocket:

Don’t mean to sound too harsh but aren’t we about a week away from launch? That’s quite close if you ask me.

What about Trezor wallets for MAID?

It is very disappointing having to move the MAID within Omni in order to burn instead of a snapshot. Moving tokens on Omni is cumbersome as it requires BTC to be present in each wallet to pay for fees. For people who hold multiple wallets this requires on-chain BTC transactions with the associated costs for each address.
I would appreciate a snapshot solution for MAID as well if that’s technically possible.

When an Arbitrum wallet is mentioned, is a wallet like MetaMask or Phantom that accepts ERC tokens acceptable?

Yes, this is a good question. I remember the app used for interacting with Omni on Trezor was out of date and pretty sketchy.

If you have a MM wallet you have a ARB wallet. You must add the ARB one network.

They fixed omni-trezor it was working fine the last two I checked it out.

Then BitMart will get your ANTs. You have to move your funds to an address under your control.

I’m sorry if I’ve missed this somewhere, but could someone explain (or point me somewhere that explains) why we’re using the Arbitrum network. My understanding was MaidSafe/Autonomi was a network in itself, that could issue and transfer tokens.

Is this Arbitrum ANT token stuff just temporary until another release milestone. Or is this the plan, to have tokens stored/transfered on Arbitrum?

Because exchanges arent interested to list new technology token, should be temporary

Thanks @cryptoidiot.

I just saw in this announcement:

After the release on the 17th there will be just one more new network before the token generation event (TGE), at which point we will be live. The network will not be taken down after that, including for the introduction of the native token when that is ready, all updates will be made in flight, and data will be permanent.

So it does suggest this is all temporary and the plan is still a native token

Question to be asked and answered now or when full directions are given out

There will be people who wants to send 1/2 (example) of the OMNI for ANT at TGE and keep 1/2 for conversion to native token.

Will that be possible since using burn. Or do they need to split their OMNI MAID into 2 addresses first???

Hoping the guide will help a tech neophyte like me who has kept his MAID in a paper wallet since 2018 :crossed_fingers:

I am sure it will and @rusty.spork has some omni given to him and he will be making a guide as well

And failing all that there are plenty here to help

Let’s make sure we let the team answer those questions, we do not want misinformation on such important topics. It’s quite common for exchanges to halt trading and award people with the airdropped tokens. For a main exchange (as we have in Bitmart), it could be that users can keep funds on the exchange.

Still people will have to eventually get the omni maid into an address they have the private key for.

Any other way would require the exchange to cooperate either exchanging and crediting the accounts or providing confidential transaction information from their trading database. I am guessing the exchanges in question will do neither of those things because of doggy / legal reasons.

Not your keys not your OMNI MAID. People though will have all the time needed to try and get their MAID into their own address since its a burn process with no time limit (as per what has been said always)
