Let's Create The First SAFE Web!

Are you kidding!? Who is this targeting? The technical minority or the technical illiterate majority? Templates are needed. You seem to be a nice guy with a one sided view. Faddat, we are ALL in this together. Without these non techie people, this network will afford little protection and subsequently fail. Please use your talents to bring these people out from the cold. You suit me as one capable of this if compelled by reason. :relaxed:

There will I hope be lots of personal websites! Adding you now :slightly_smiling:

@Tonda - Fail? I would not go that far but @faddat, you lost me at [quote=“faddat, post:141, topic:5750”]

This is a web site.

Yeah but most people think of complicated web app sites or whatever not static sites from the 90s when they think “website.” Kids these days have been spoiled rotten.

I believe his intent was to show that a website can be as simple as a small HTML file viewed in a browser. “hello world” style if you will. :grinning:

I kinda figured that point and I appreciate @faddat promoting simplicity but I think the point that @Tonda and I were trying to make is to simplify it even still and show it to us (the non techies) in a template please. That way we can appreciate what is being suggesting instead of rejecting it because we don’t understand what is being said.

The examples you will get very soon are template driven or you can upload your own sites from disk etc. So you will have both options available to you. Trouble with templates is they are templates, so restrict you somewhat, our initial templates are very simple indeed, but it’s up for grabs if there is a nice template system we could upload with the example app perhaps.

Any static site generator should work, right?

I think so. if you get html/js as a result you should be sorted.

A small niche network to me is a fail when you consider the intended goal. Yes, technically it can still work with as few as a handful of nodes on a single machine. :relaxed:

lalala - my “website” is ready - you can release now @dirvine

made a *.gif with gimp and will use that with the safe template :innocent:
…told you crappy xD … not a singled line of html :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::blush:

ps: but made with love

Crap i have music on my site :frowning: and its hosted on a WWW site Help!

Anyone want to try building a little web App for the test networks? This would be fun, and pretty easy I think:

For anyone wanting to join the SAFE Webring I’ve updated the posts above with the correct DNS entries:

You will need to PM me your SAFE website URL after you have uploaded it so I can add it to the webring.js file.

I’ve no clue how to set up a web page but I’d love to try it. Will there be a template at some stage? Basic and simple just to get on the road. :grinning:

How do you make a website with the url “username.safenet”? In the Maidsafe Demo App>“Manage Websites and Files”>“Create service” I can only see the option http://< your service >.username.safenet.

EDIT: Use www in the “Your service”-field. Then the url will be username.safenet

I’m working on getting jujhar16.neocities.org onto the SAFE Network

Leave it blank maybe??

I can´t get past the Create service page unless I put something in the box.

Edit: Solution: Write www in the field and the page will load from username.safenet
