I just downloaded it, imported aautonnomicc.json and it worked

This is the first app that I’ve been able to download and use the Autonomi network without needing to install developer tools and use command line… the network is becoming tangible!

Looking forward to seeing how this develops, and how music discovery etc becomes possible as more stuff is uploaded.

Also great to see Android and iOS versions are planned. The easier it is for people to ‘just use’ Autonomi the better.

Opening jams-player on MacOS (Seqouia) stops with a “Apple could not verify is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.” error. I was able to remove that by doing a

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine jams-desktop.app

I guess this true for all mac apps not signed&notarized via apple

It just does not play the song. The download was successful and I can play the downloaded song from the folder with VLC, but in Jams nothing just happens.

Also, in settings it says that I am not connected to internet, though I am. It says this even after successfully downloading songs.

Anyway, I expect these to be just some minor bugs. Congatulations for releasing this! And thank you for taking it all the way over to here.

We have that issue flagged but thank you for reporting!

The file not playing could possibly be the file type not being supported. We have that flagged as well to expand supported file types, assuming that is your particular issue. Any idea the file type? If it’s mp3 it most definitely should work.

This is exactly right. This is just the beginning and what others are working on now will help us down the line and vice versa. Exciting times.

If someday offensive or undesirable content is an issue, I think we probably agree to take a filter approach rather than censorship. We could take some inspiration from web of trust type things or perhaps something like what would be planned for Decorum by @Seneca and @bzee, which is in that same vein.

If the copyright people come complaining do they have a target? I suppose even if they do the music will still remain?

Is there a way for artists to get paid / sell their tracks?

It is mp3, and one that others have reported working:

I opened the app, tried to listen the songs from the list of @aatonnomicc, first without signing in, then signed in. Neither song plays and both of them are downloaded and play with VLC. I’m on Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS. Logs here.

I’ve tried to run the Mac version jams-desktop_0.1.6_aarch64.dmg but it fails to open with this error:-

This is the page available in the User Guide from the ‘?’:-

but it isn’t the usual one of the source not being trusted so having to allow the App to be opened in the Security settings because it’s not listed there with a button to ‘Open Anyway’.

So could it be the other possibility mentioned that you got one version signed but then published another?

EDIT
Then I saw @gmax92 's comment above:-

has allowed it to be opened!

I think the issue is choosing the arch 64.

im planning on having an all things autonomi house party in the Autumn, with a focus on music, got some great guys who sing and guitar well, i’ll encourage them (3 cans for each tune )to upload at the party once they set up an account. . I’m going to play around with the app more and will look for content to upload
