FYI: New York Bitlicense Will Affect Poloniex Users From New York, USA

I just received this in an email:

Hello,
In accordance with the New York State Department of Financial Services, Poloniex will no longer be allowed to provide services to residents of the State of New York starting on August 8th, 2015. If you are a resident of New York, please take appropriate measures to withdraw your funds by 11:59pm Eastern Daylight Time on August 7th, 2015. For more information or for further assistance, please contact our support staff by going to poloniex.freshdesk.com. To learn more about Bitlicense, you can read this Coindesk article

Sincerely,
The Poloniex Team

I hate New York. No freedom anymore.

He who creates owns. Every time I read a piece of regulation like this and moreover the mass capitulation with it I start to get a bit loopy. Dude we are not slaves! We are not property. The only thing created by the government is arguably one’s strawman and if you’re acting as a man and not a legal fiction then how does that come into play? This is yet ANOTHER application of Maidsafe that we haven’t really discussed yet. Think about it: A replacement for goverenment appointed legal fictions. Only when you create an account you become the creator and of course you own all your data. All the same functions apply: public records, provable identity, transaction history, the works. But you’re the one in control. Much is said about those that don’t have an “identity” but maidsafe could provide an “identity” without having a government strawman. And therefore allow one to no longer be subject to law.

I’ve withdrawn my Maidsafe Coins from Poloniex and had them sent to a Bitcoin address. I check my balance by going to omniwallet.org and entering the wallet address? If so, I’m not seeing them and wondering what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any input.

Only be concerned a few hours after the transfer

It’s been over 10 hours. :-\

So assuming that poloniex shows your transfer as successful, then omniwallet should show the balance when you check the bitcoin address. The next step is to email poloniex and tell them and get it checked in their system.

Just submitted a ticket. Thanks for your input.

Anybody else having issues withdrawing Maidsafe Coins from Poloniex? It’s been over 24 hours since I confirmed my withdraw and they are blaming the wallet, I created one using the instructions I found on here. This is what they said in there response to my ticket “Unfortunately this is a wallet problem and unless the coin developer provide an updated version we are stuck with this transaction delay.” The site I used to make the wallet was bitaddress.org

This is worrying me because I’m in NY State and they are basically kicking me off the exchange because they don’t want to apply for the Bitlicense. I wanted to buy more Maidsafe Coins before the cutoff but now doubt I’ll do it here and instead use masterxchange.

Actually I tried 3 hours ago to withdraw some maidsafecoin and it is still saying “PROCESSING”

Does the withdrawal page say “PROCESSING” or complete?

Mine’s been saying that for the last 24 hours!

I also did a withdrawal some 27 hours ago that went through no problems. Must have just beaten the problem for that one

What’s the public address? I’ll send you a little BTC and we’ll see if there is a wallet problem.

Well their entrance sign states, “Welcome to Empire State.” At least they’re being honest.

I guess that has something to do with the recent spam transaction attack.
