A shadow network for testing proposal by @TK_canman on Discord

imo the only way to boot this Community Run “‘Fauxtonomi’ Community Reference Platform” @scale is to ‘Ghost/Shadow’ or in modern terms ‘create a digital twin’ ofthe existing network that everyone pays for, and that means
have 90% of the existing node operators run 10% of their nodes as “RC” Fauxnodes to create that digital twin… = 1/10th scale test network which is good enough to project/predict production performance with some degree of accuracy.
If the whales and founder, and the users and operators want the quality, that will attract MASS ADOPTION that’s the cost 10% of the nodes dedicated to quality, which grows as the network grows…
That’s the QA cost and QA commitment…
meaning such a QA Strategy of ‘Digital Twin’ needs to be institutionalised in all Maidsafe, Investor and Node Operator Noggins asap, which in itself is a big marketing campaign of awareness and education, otherwise its more of the same
This way QA is built in and fundamental to Autonomi and is the Gateway controlling all releases to ensure highest quality and fast adoption ,
moving forward QA get’s institutionalised/bridged across what is currently imo a Maidsafe/Community ping pong game of guess what the problem is…
That sounds very much like adding complexity into the node starting procedure or even the node itself to decide if its a main or Faux node.
Debugging of it as well. Yet another “product”/process to be debugged.
The team is already talking of running the “alpha” network as the test network.
We’ve also seen that small networks, which the Faux one would be one, work better than main-net with all the small node runners and such a variety of connections. So in reality if the large well resourced node operators are running this Faux network then its duplicating similar conditions for the most part as the alpha network that is already running. But misses the issues caused by the lesser node machine out there.
And no one can expect the world to be even thinking of running 10% of their 50 nodes as a part of a Faux network. They would for the most part not even know what it is. They know enough to run nodes, don’t expect more of 99% of the world, which will see only a percentage even get enough knowledge to run nodes for themselves.
Large node operators will only be a small percentage of total nodes and 10% of that will be tiny compared to the network.
