Distributed Press - tools for decentralised publishing and integration

Distributed Press is a system (API, tools, and services) to help publish web content to multiple decentralised platforms, and integrate those websites with each other (eg federated distribution and comment systems).

It currently provides easy routes to publish static or CMS based websites to IPFS and Holepunch, and I think could be extended to publish to Safe Network. Sites can then be accessed via a centralised DP DNS integrated with Brave Browser, or I assume directly using each decentralised platform’s own web client capability (eg a Browser with IPFS support, or a Safe Network Browser).

It is backed by a cooperative with similar values who are not paranoid about cryptocurrency, and so seems like a good project to work with officially or through a community initiative.

It reminds me of my much more modest dweb project that supported publishing a static site directly to Safe Network and to a conventional web hosting service. I may reach out to them to see if they are interested in supporting publishing to SN at some point although without the prospect of a client to view SN content there’s no point doing so atm.

Here’s a summary of the core feature, but extra things are appearing already:

Distributed Press is an open source publishing tool for the World Wide Web and DWeb. It automates publishing and hosting content to the WWW that it seeds to IPFS and Holepunch. We are currently adding new features to deliver verifiable content to other protocols, including BitTorrent.

In addition to seeding content, the Distributed Press API also seeds other project data over DWeb protocols. For example, the current Monetization API integrates with Ethereum and Open Collective to provide real-time project funding information. In the future, these APIs will support content verification and social messaging across DWeb ecosystems.
