Well done friend, we need more people who act, talking is cheap
“Learning without thinking is useless. Thinking without learning is dangerous.” - Confucius.
I am an idiot who sold 3milion maids. And its not bragging but rather a statement of fact. And i would gladly sell more when maid launches a product. I never claimed to be an expert in anything until someone asked me.
I may not understand the project someone may want to remind the funds the community gave. And we did willingly.
Feel free 2 correct this 2😊
Reading through the lines, it seems there’s a lot of knowledge in many different departments/industries here on the forum. How about we setup an excel file where everyone wanting to help out mentions his skill(s)/company/position etc. Imo it would help to get an overview of this first. I have been in the RFID/NFC and Printing industry for a while, so should be able to lend a hand there.
edit: tried to upload an excel to get started, but can only upload pics.
Well said. As I put it: I don’t like luck. Excellence makes the difficult look easy, but we should not delude ourselves into believing that results come without cogent strategic preparation and disciplined execution.
Please look up how much Aol spent on marketing the internet in the 90s. I already posted the figure on some other thread a long time ago, so you don’t have to search far…
A final note regarding the misguided notions concerning what marketing is and the imperative utility marketing provides: you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.
And how did that help them? I haven’t even heard of them, nor do I know who they are. But I’ve heard of the internet. One company cannot advertise either the Internet or the Safe Internet. These things are too big, like trying to control the market by deciding what the prices are for all products. The Internet is like Hydra - 1000 people trying different things, 1 fails and two others appear in its place.
See how well you handled the Twitter account of the Safe Network. Why not just ask David for a company email with the MaidSafe domain and see what you can achieve with it. Most exchanges basically want this to confirm that you are from the team. What is the point of speaking theoretically. No agreement will be reached. It is better to act. If we fail, two new Hydra heads will grow
This would indicate you are quite ill-informed…
Because an email address can’t fund an exchange listing, or a Hackathon, or a code bounty, and so many other high ROI marketing initiatives. The digital ads you place are nice, but what is the actual ROI?
No, this means that if in 30 years the Safe Internet is successful, most people will not even know who MaidSafe are, because the Safe Internet will be developed by thousands of companies. That’s why MaidSafe needs to work on the network code, and we as a community need to work on our projects.
Hackathon alone will not bring anything if people have not heard of Safe. The pyramid is built from the bottom up. We need acting individuals, not a supervisor.
The result is a 1600% increase in the Safe social channel on Facebook in 6 months (from 50 to 800 followers)
A strategist must be a student of history. To serially reinvent the wheel and fail to learn from what has (not) worked in the past is inefficient.
The right people need to do more than just hear about Safe; they need to build with Safe.
Yes, but what value have those follows presented? Has engagement gone up? Are we seeing increased MAID trade volume beyond the BTC tide that raises all ships (i.e. indicating new parties entering or old parties returning)? Are we seeing new Safe dApps being spun up? Are we seeing a broad swing towards positive sentiment? Is there greater, tangible understanding of what this project is about? No.
I’m not saying that there is no place for social media or grassroots activities in a marketing strategy. What I’m saying is that to play with the big boys requires higher ROI initiatives.
There is definitely a huge place for grass roots efforts. The more the better in terms of getting the word out, attracting users, driving social media, creating excitement, etc.
I think the organized marketing is more about building a “brand”, collecting feedback that could drive changes to the user experience, organizing efforts for maximum impact, working on exchange listings, etc. This requires some tacit approval from Maidsafe, which necessarily causes potential distraction so may be more challenging than just doing it. There is tremendous value in this too.
Both activities are valuable. I don’t see this as an either/or proposition.
AOL was the internet for the better part of a decade. If it were not for AOL I’m not sure the internet would have been adopted as fast as it was.
I am not against the company giving money for “brand” marketing. As a small shareholder in the company and as a person who lent money to David, I want the company to first launches a product and then spends money on marketing.
Until then, however, I believe that anyone who wants to help the network can act alone without a supervisor.

I don’t disagree with this. I also don’t think this is at all in conflict with @Sotros25 doing her thing on a voluntary basis in a more organized way with whoever wants to team up with her. At the right time that could then transition into something more formal. As the marketing ideas and plans develop they can attract funding from Maidsafe and/or the community. Same thing for individual efforts too.
Sure, you can do just like @Dimitar as a volunteer. I volunteered my self for free. I managed to let my clients to buy more then 5million safecoin so far. I am also maintaining Korean telegram chat group though its very small at the moment. Plus I and my colleagues are preparing killer app that could bring so many people to this network. I encourage you to do so just like us.
Can you tell me the name of the Korean Telegram Group to it add to the list?
Are you the one with the facebook page with the video saying that Maidsafe is from Silicon Valley?
nope sir its not me.
Alright, this is the last time I address points that have already been made, b/c at this point it’s wasting my time.

Also, @moderators, I suspect a lot of these comments need to get moved to their own thread as they are not trading-related. I apologize deeply on behalf of all those who support marketing and all those who hate marketing for that inconvenience.
You should not have official email account of maidsafe. It means you represent us, which many people here wont agree. Please do your marketing without official email. You can do that. I know people who is doing great job for maidsafe without official email account.
I didn’t ask for that. See below:
At this point, I think you’re just trolling and belligerent for no reason.
