Cooperative internet movement (eg decentralising Uber, Airbnb type services)

And “department manager” can still fire you just as fast.

“Manager” is in a way more derogatory in that it implies you cannot manage yourself.

You choose to do what you “boss” asks you to do because he told you to, and you don’t have to like it or agree with it… He can remain an idiot.

It is what it is. But assigning two different meanings to interchangeable synonyms is mostly a game within your own brain - and has little effect on reality.

Haha… If you’re equal, how come he’s your boss?

I called my last boss “boss” because he was superior (oops!) to me in almost every respect (oops!) and I was honored to be given the opportunity to work for him.

Gotta say, this sounds really weird. A sign of politician/activist/psychoanalyst employee.

I get what you are trying to say and that is honorable and I’ve never consciously wanted to be around any body except those I could really learn (hopefully not too overstated) from and were in the superior position because of that desire on my part at the very least.

That said: No boss, no supervisor, no manager, no executives. That stuff ends. I’ve noticed these people are almost never superior and but under capitalism generally simply compromised in character. Ass kissers sell out etc. People who put money before people. That alone should be an aggravated felony. Stupid decisions are much less likely to be made when the people actually impacted by them, the people with the libertarian “skin in the game” make the decisions. That is just one of the reasons why cooperatives if done right will be radically superior to the failure of top down government state systems and top down corporatism- corporatism is always top down.

As individuals/humans, I consider my department manager equal to me, yes. Only in the context of the business he is dominant. I’m fine with “department boss” or whatever, but not “your boss”.

Maybe it’s the language, the Dutch word “baas” may have different subtleties to it.

I do come from a family saturated with politicians, but I don’t consider myself an activist. It’s true that I have an interest in psychology.

Okay, I didn’t turn in any expense reports for the last year.

What now?

I think you should be promoted at the very least!

Well to me that’s the only context that matters (at work).

I am not saying people should make friends, but in organizations that do have different levels of employees, usually there is a good reason (or else, the company sucks and it’s better to leave).

1 in 7 people involved in cooperatives globally, credit unions better than for profit banks, in the US they have 3 trillion in assets and 26000 cooperatives run 73000 businesses and do 25 billion a year in payroll on 500 billion a year in revenue. I’ll admit I don’t get that last part seems like a tiny amount going to labor, but many that means they are radically efficient…? And the US is a slacker on these but coming up.

It so interesting. Tell me the ways banks are superior to credit unions. A good credit union is a conflict of interest free organization and a model total efficiency and effectiveness. A private bank on the other hand has become a negative interest begging piece of scat. We could replace all banks with credit unions and ever corporate with an efficient effective distributed automated cooperative where people did tasks that were computationally intractable and the rest was automated out.

Generalization…

There are two credit unions in my neighborhood that have grown to the size that they behave nearly exactly as banks.

I don’t have any problem with co-operatives they are a good fit for a lot of situations.

But I have a bank that serves me every bit as well as my credit union. Do I think it ought to be shut down because Warren doesn’t like the idea? No. They serve me well no matter what Warren thinks. He has never done business with them.

And your bank is going to fail you and lose your money in the coming crash but a credit union is much less likely to do any such stupid thing, it doesn’t have a retarded Glass Steagall problem and it won’t be trying to charge you negative interest. There is a reason credit unions are tax free non profits, they are a radically better idea. No money is wasted on parasites it all back to you because you own and ultimately control with your community the credit union.
