Being the most modest/under-hyped coin on the market

Agree with this. No one will take the chance (given past history) until the network proves somewhat robust.

Don’t want to go off topic too far but what might be really crucial here is the partnerships @nicklambert in particular can build on once the technology is proven to work eg: pre Safecoin, and shop this around to some of the larger data storage clients

If this proves successful we can target people like the NHS for example and have them in the early wave which would strongly legitimise the network straight up. Not an easy task but a good starting point.

If the grey/black markets join in the second wave (which they will don’t doubt that) maybe having a few large partnerships already established would help media perception of SAFE in the early days.

I’ve got a sneaky suspicion these moves are already being looked at by the team

Seems like someone is gradually dumping alot of coins, therefore the price is going deep to the ground… not good :frowning:

I think while in token form, although price rises are nice, price falls should be celebrated and taken advantage of.

The time for price rise discussion and happiness should be kept for when the actual safe coin is released.

It’s a solid project, and those who judge the value of a token by the community, the hard work of the Devs, the quality updates will be rewarded by a great new internet, and as a bonus some valuable coins.

Really, in token form, buy the dips, praise the falls. Be happy you’ve got another month of cheap buying opertunity.
An opertunity to guarantee free internet services in the future, stock pile your coins and you’ll have unlimited storage and VoIP calls and other services in the future

I do ask myself though… to enable a market, you need sellers… who is selling at these prices? Noooo way, not going to think about selling untill in safe form.

Another comment on value. Right now, there is a messaging app you can download on your phone - with co plete end to end encryption.

“safe messenger tutorial”

That exists right now, ok it’s a test network but I’m already able to message my mates on the safe network with my mobile.

The first person to create a full featured “WhatsApp” app right now will form the foundations of a loyal customer base. Sure, every time the test network resets I’ll have to re-add my contacts, but that’s a small price to pay.

Is this reflected in the coin price at the moment? Definitely not. But it’s confirms the future potential, some solid progress.

Anyone wity free resources should consider making an alpha test app as soon as they can, so they can grow with the safe net.

What about free resources on a mobile phone?

As in farm the resources on a mobile? It would probably drain your battery nearly as fast as the Facebook app…

 Will surely be done at some point in the future

The plan is for mobiles to be able to farm while on charge.

And why not, as portable devices get faster and can hold silly (relatively) amounts of data, it would be naive to ignore the resource. Hopefully when the obsession with ultra thin phones has ebbed, Manufacturers will fit higher capacity batteries… i did hear of a 11,000mAh mobile battery today so perhaps it’s on its way!

I don’t know what the current stance is on using mobile devices for farming though, the problem is how often they could be unavailable if the battery has died. Might put unnecessary stress on the network having to create new copies of chunks all the time after your phone dies following a 3hr call from your Aunt Mary.

Not all nodes are equal, so what they are able to provide will determine how they are utilised and what rewards they receive.

It’s possible to spoof your OS and device, so could that be abused on a mobile?

The network doesn’t trust what you say, it responds to what you do. Because… humans

Ok, So I’ve got a sweet android mobile, live in a major city so constantly have free WiFi and when out of the office/home/hipster coffee shop I’ve got unlimited data. I’m obsessive about charging my phone so extremely rarely that it’s off…

I’ve installed MaidFake which is telling the network that I’m running windows, using an Asus laptop that is plugged in…

Would the network assess this as a ‘good’ node?

As long as the device does what the network needs it won’t care. You will be OK there, but we would not market mobile farming really as it will mean a ton of hurt for many. For those that know more then cool, the code will be available for sure

Aye, so if someone really wanted to do it (and you know some people might), they could. But it wouldn’t be detrimental since they would be acting like a decent node?

Aye Ken that’s the key. As long as the node can pass resource proof and continue to operate as normal then it’s a good player, so we are good with that.

Exactly. The network pays for what you do / contribute. Got it?!

Oi!, passive aggressive  yes I got it , but what make a node untrustworthy? is it a distinct number of ‘outages’ per 24hrs?

Anything that the node does not do that it should starts the process off. Some things are instant kill, others will reduce age etc. We treat nodes that misbehave in any way as potentially untrustworthy/malicious or just not good enough at the moment etc.
