I only wrote it for Ubuntu 24.04
Please do.
Honestly, the app just runs the commands in the terminal and redirects to output to a python GUI. It was coded with Cursor AI. I know a lot about computers but I’m not a programmer.
There is nothing malicious going on here.
I didn’t see a gui available so I thought I would try to build one.
Reengaging with this community has been informative but also very strange for me.
I came here to help and now I’m being called trash, a Nazi sympathizer, and people think I’m some kind of malicious actor.
I’m sure I’ve done nothing either in this forum or on the discord to be treated this way.
But as I said in Discord. I’m happy to sit on the side lines and stay out of everyone’s way.
Welcome to the forums!
Don’t worry, people are just a bit paranoid nowdays
It’s nothing personal, how could it be, no one knows you…
Yeah, in the eyes of some, anyone who would give even a hint of support to Ukraine is a Nazi sympathizer. There are people in this community who are strongly on both sides of that debate.
I think people are of course right to be cautious of any code from an unknown source, but you’re here, engaging, and contributing, so I’m sure the suspicion will subside.
GUIs are definitely needed, as are people willing to get stuck in a make stuff.
I hope you settle into the community just fine after the rocky reception!
Tbh, I’ve never understood why such threads even exist on this forum. Its nothing to do with Autonomi.
From a quick search, NAFO are “a social media movement dedicated to countering Russian disinformation about the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine”.
You regularly make efforts to counter what you see as Western disinformation about the Russia / Ukraine situation, so perhaps this user will bring balance (or stay focused on developing stuff for the network).
Anyway… maybe you two will become great friends ![]()
Yes, it’s hidden from new users.
Perhaps it serves to build understanding… though I’m not sure it’s doing a fantastic job with that.
It’s certainly not great when people arrive in the forum / discord and hear people being accused of being Nazi sympathisers.
Maybe the mods need to tighten up on some of this stuff to keep things more respectful?
The ai tools are pretty incredible , its exciting to see this.
MVP’s everywhere in the coming months now that the barriers to coding are coming down?
Looks like it! ![]()
I’m not aware of NAFO radio. A quick search indicated they’re pro Ukraine & anti what they see as Russian propaganda.
It sounds like the opposite of you (pro Russia & anti what you see as Western propaganda)
If they are a Nazi supporting organisation, just link to information about it rather than going into your insane and wildly… almost comically inaccurate assumptions about my character and viewpoints.
Ok dad, sorry. Won’t do it again probably.
It must be brilliant to be so unconcerned about infiltration from the forces of pure evil.
Cos I’m a nice guy really, if you run out of fingers to stick in your ears while doing the old “la-la-la” bit, I’ll lend you some of mine.
And I promise to wash my hands as well. Cos I’m a nice guy.
Why not just link to some info about NAFO rather than more unhinged disrespectful ranting?
Unfortunately, much of the time, you hide it pretty well.
If you have a few people with the coding skills willing to do a pass of the code and give it a score, that would work.
Someone could also ask AI to look for malicious code.
But honestly I’m not suitable to answer that question.
I just wanted a GUI to run the commands in the shell.
I also wanted to test buffering incoming data from Autonomi for A/V output, leaving the data in memory and purging it when it is done playing. This is what I’m working on now. Making it so the data on Autonomi can be used by a system without ever hitting the hard drive.
The last item I wanted to use was plausible deniability. Where you can use one of two passwords to get into one of two wallets. One wallet has pictures of your family and average data. The other wallet has your secrets.
My thought was that this would be useful for journalism. If forced to, someone would unlock the app with the sanitized wallet and not share their secrets.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
For me, it is pretty wonderful. I’ve been working with computers for 35 years is. I can read python, HTML, javascript, powershell, bash, some C, and the Python/Rust examples from the API docs have helped me start to understand Rust. But I am no programmer.
If I had to do it to save someone’s life, I might be able to, but I have had no specific motivation to sit down and work it out.
It also seems that I enjoy watching cursor struggle through the tests I make it do.
It has created a lot of options for me. I prefer to have more options than fewer options.
Thats because you haven’t bought me enough beer. ![]()
Well, I do hope to fix that sometime. It’s been a very long time!
Beer covers a multitude of sins.
I am extremely lucky, I tend to get more amiable as I get drunker and less aggressive. Doesn’t mean I won’t argue my position any less forcefully/passionately though ![]()
I genuinely look forward to sitting down and quaffing it out with you. We probably agree on 95% of the whole damn thing anyway, so it will be easy to sort out the 5% where you are completely incorrect ![]()
