It would seem this is being allowed to continue to stress one parameter and that is intraoperative nature of the network and ability to do quoting (ie nodes working right and contactable and assumed to be able to store)

The team I am sure are at least as smart as we are (more so I expect and more experienced in the project) and can see this issue and are working on the next step or know the next step. Maybe 5 million or 10 million is the target before changing things

I don’t know but guessing and taking David’s works about wanting to see a very large network as part of the plans

Would be interesting to know how all these nodes are located on the world map.

With an extract of logs I can tell you that. Need some with say 10,000 nodes to run a single command line to extract the needed entries (it also cuts out the unneeded text). and then upload the extract somewhere, maybe encrypted if public.

If you want to help you can DM me. Desire people running linux and storing logs and have over 2,000 nodes. Zip files can be uploaded in the forum so no need to worry about where to send it.

I did it with 750 of my nodes and got some results but just not enough.

I would pay good money to see / hear the behind the scenes discussions on potential strategies and ways forward. I expect the depth and knowledge in those chats would make our (at least my) throwing around of ideas in here look pretty silly

For a decentralisation (i.e. p2p networks) test though in terms of sheer number of nodes, this is one of, if not the biggest test so far in the OSS world. We will make of it what we can

Even if this is X data centres it’s still a good test. We have some tweaks to do and then the API to get as solid as possible, but it’s certainly interesting

I am just looking at it technically and seeing what it can do and get as much info as possible from It all and it’s telling us stuff for sure. So it’s valuable to me.

The token thing is separate and I don’t comment much on that, but regardless of anything it will be gamed as much as possible from all angles possible. What we need though is lots of large groups gaming each other Under all that I hope the folks running nodes in far flung places get a chance to pay for their computers etc. and get a chance to get involved along the way. I would love to see it grow to 10’s of millions of nodes and ultimately nearly all of them from folks running small computers and apps etc. Also my robots of course

I will give you some examples of today and this is because we have the network running and it’s grown so much
We found

• Some nodes had thousands of connections hanging
• Some nodes have linearly growing resource usage and will die soon unless we fix that (turns out it’s our nodes AFIK and we can solve it, perhaps)
• UpNP is not working effectively due to flag configs and some code issues
• home-network flag and relays using issues
• uploads failing with not enough quotes (that turns out to be relay vanishing during quote)

Also you will note above that @dirvine wants various large groups competing. We don’t have that at all. @neo has shown it is one single individual.

As I said before, kudos to those who wrote the code that could scale to 3m nodes. I’ll give far greater kudos when I see it can handle 3m properly functioning nodes.

Cos you are only fooling yourself if you think this is anywhere near the finished article. Yes, it may be important to prove it can scale. It is also important not to piss away the assets of the company on one parasite just so we can say “But it scaled to 3m nodes”.

As can be seen above, the team have learned from this experiment and have plenty to work on. Is that any reason to keep throwing away all these ANTs to one greedy whale?
RandomRewards need seriously curtailed NOW.
