Great… https://www.bitmart.com/trade/en-US?symbol=ANT_USDT now shows us below $0.20
When will somebody say enough is enough, end the RandomRewards and stop feeding the parasite?
THere is ZERO point in 3m useless nodes that cannot store anything like their claimed petabytes and that have not been tested ubder any realistic load.
Is that the infrastructure you are so keen on?
And yes I DO say the same of capital speculators - hang them high - or slowly - or both.
Takes a lot more than just coders to build a project.
And just where did @dirvine say this?
Aye very good, ya elitist pr1ck.
Also you will note above that @dirvine wants various large groups competing. We don’t have that at all. @neo has shown it is one single individual.
As I said before, kudos to those who wrote the code that could scale to 3m nodes. I’ll give far greater kudos when I see it can handle 3m properly functioning nodes.
Cos you are only fooling yourself if you think this is anywhere near the finished article. Yes, it may be important to prove it can scale. It is also important not to piss away the assets of the company on one parasite just so we can say “But it scaled to 3m nodes”.
As can be seen above, the team have learned from this experiment and have plenty to work on. Is that any reason to keep throwing away all these ANTs to one greedy whale?
RandomRewards need seriously curtailed NOW.
Im not wrong at all.
I’m saying the scaling thing has been done, its costing us money, why continue throwing money at when the team have learned all they need to know for now?
Away and patronise someone else, I dont need your faux-superior sh1te.
Means the square root of sod-all if we can’t upload.
But if you can upload, it’s amazing, right?
The team is working on a fix. Soon we should have both.
Do we know how many coins have been distributed to those 10M nodes so far?
A very good question - should be fairly simple to answer - count what has been paid out and multiply by 0.99 to get the figure that has been drained away from OUR ecosystem.
“if” is working VERY hard here…
just like those trying to upload…
Well - small uploads do work - right? It just seems to be a communication issue across the large network from what I’ve seen so far…?
That Blockchain integration part won’t get faster and the issue with home routers won’t be resolved by whales not running nodes…
I agree we are lacking an api and have issues with large files… But I think the bashing about non working uploads is a bit over the top lately…
I’m not here to defend anybody but tbh it looks to me like some large runner is immediately selling to cover his costs https://arbiscan.io/address/0xed9268c8befd437d097dfc7dd31d368583c63bf3#tokentxns
And then there’s that even 10x larger guy who is either accumulating ant with his endeavor and/or hindering the smaller whale on crushing the ant price https://arbiscan.io/address/0x908e064453d2ab3297c73e721a3262bb275985b2#tokentxns
Might misinterpret what I’m seeing but I think everything is working as it should… I just expected the current state to be 1 year after launch… Not 2 weeks… And ofc there’s some headroom for more diversity in the runner landscape =D
Do you think they will fail and abandon the project?
I am worried that it will discourage many newbies who are not as committed to the project as us Old Farts
When they see what is still considerable effort to set up nodes gaining almost zero rewards, Id be tempted to chuck it, wouldn’t you?
But wasn’t that always the expected outcome - cheapest possible storage and only reasonable to run nodes for Rock bottom prices because of the competition for node rewards…?
… It’s just that none of us expected to arrive at the current prices this fast…(and most of us being out of the node running business within 2 weeks after launch xD)
Tbh, new folks would probably be just as put off by the negativity and doubt.
We all want smoother uploads and the rapid growth is unexpected. We must be patient though.
Yes there is truth in that.
It is costing BigPlayer(s) to put up these nodes. Done right, it shold cost almost zero for our target audience to run a few ndes. The only real cost is time and effort to do so. Therfore we must reduce the time and effort for JoePublic so we can compete.
AND start getting data up and enforcing chunk verification so that if it IS a hacked anctl that reports 10k nodes from one instance, they are soon exposed.
Out of 173 upload attempts overnight of unique 10MiB files (3 chunks) there has been 39 successfully uploaded
Well I have already had a friend with over 1000 nodes run it. Its not a script but a single command line that only requires the person to navigate to the parent directory of the log files. Typically ~/.local/share/autonomi/node
But still all you can determine is number of nodes behind each IP address, so shu or mighty or dimitar would appear to have thousands which are on their machines behind their internet address
There is some use in being able to gain insights to large machines (if data centre) or large home setups. And approx concentrations of node machines
With some more insights (from other sources) there may be deduced an idea of singular entities running multiple. But it only takes 100 people to each spin up 10 bare bone server with 10K nodes each.
We have no idea if its one entity, or group, or just many enterprising people buying up 2nd hand computers and getting friends and family to put them in their places and share the profits.
Did you get the latest release candidate for the ant client? I heard that one got reasonably good marks in upload success rate.
antup client --version 0.3.8-rc.1
I might try that.
Will do that right now since 39 successes out of over 170 upload attempts of random 3 chunk files is not great.
I have a benchmark too since 170 attempts is enough to get an idea. Will I get over 100 successes, I hope so.
