Safenetwork: The self driving internet

I think self driving sounds more friendly than Autonomous, but thats my opinion.

Yes “self driving” is also starting to be used in the media here, and it does sound way better than “driverless” from a marketing perspective. Just like a “trustless network” sounds bad ie. “how can we trust it?”. The terms “driverless vehicles” and “self-driving cars” are being used in common parlance here interchangeably. The term “autonomous network” sounds fine with me, but I am a science geek…

EDIT: Forgot to mention that “driverless” might appeal to super geeks from the perspective of software/hardware “drivers”. It is “driverless” in the sense that there is no need to install a bunch of software and plugins. Just start up the (Peruse?) browser and you are “safely” online.

Internet 2.0 - Safenet

Maybe market “internet 2.0” branded with Safenet? I think the vast majority of folks could easily understand, this means an upgrade of some sort. Seems like a natural flow and most folks are used to software upgrades already, even though this is much more!

“Web 3.0” or “Internet 3.0” is the best for marketing. That gets people intrigued.
Sadly, most people don’t care about “networks,” “freedom,” or “autonomy.” They enjoy them, but take them for granted and don’t understand any of them.

People care about innovation and technology. The next “big thing.”

A name like “Matrix” sounds cool, but that is probably taken.

The best name of all the crypto coins is “Tron.” It means absolutely nothing, but it sounds cool because of the movie “Tron.” and it has well-known celebrities behind it, which generates even more hype.

No offense, but “MaidSafe” is easily the worst name in the entire crypto space. A name like “DuckEggs” or “PinkElephant” would have been better. The only reason I learned about it is because I saw the name “MaidSafe” and thought, “Boy, that sure sounds stupid, I wonder what it is.”

Lo and behold its technology is more intriguing then all the cool sounding names like Tron, Stellar, NEO, IOTA, SALT, Verge, Dash, etc combined.

Labels shmabels. If the network is released and:

  1. Functions as it’s claimed it will;
  2. Has a pretty, smooth and simple user interface;
  3. Can attract excellent software people to get a healthy app universe going;

It will not matter one iota (hehe) how people have mislabelled and miscategorised this revolutionary autonomous network/internet 3.0/whatever blatantly now for years. We’ve already enough sincere people on here for it to take off, after we rope our friends and family into it.

That’s before you get into all the easy sells - any company whose servers ever got hacked, any internet user whose data was ever stolen from a server, and ehhh… No, that’s everyone covered already actually :wink:

That’s not to say that marketing as well as possible isn’t a good idea; I get a bit distressed myself when I see some article headline proclaiming Siacoin has won the battle with Storj and MaidSafe. But it seems to me like the very best marketing imaginable for MaidSafe is going to make the project go from being extremely likely to largely replace the internet, to being extremely likely to largely replace the internet a little faster.

Someone correct me if I’m being overly fawning here, but that’s what my untechnical but very thorough trawl through forums, videos, whitepapers, and etc seems to suggest.
