Will Maidsafe launch within the next 3 years?

Once a test net is posted, all you have to do is run and install script for Ubuntu to participate. Other platforms are supported as well.

And what hardware ( processor, 2070 or 2080 cards)will it be necessary?

With previous tests a standard PC/laptop (eg i3) has been sufficient. You shouldn’t need any special hardware.

Welcome to the community.
Where did you discover the project if I may ask?

You don’t mine coin like you do in some other projects. You simply run a vault, which is essentially giving up some of your disk space to the network to store data. This should be a pretty lightweight process that could potentially utilize even cheap hardware like a raspberry pi.

You launch the product. Price goes to USD10. I will
Come to Scotland and we go for a nice dinner and wine. Can we agree to this? The price cam be higher of course :rofl::rofl:

Hard to say, maybe, maybe not. In 2016 I was feeling like the launch was verrrrry close.

You can find some people post from 2014 in the forum estimating the launch in 2016.

TBH I would say we are close to an MVP. But between a MVP and a production ready network, some more time is needed.

Its a variant of the halting problem. Need a time computer to solve it- time computer has a time machine as part of its hardware- only kind that can handle the halting problem by running on one of the Universe’s threads and bringing back an answer- which given the ability to stay on given thread in real life or something like that- might still be a probablistic answer.

You can start it locally, thanks to a Baby Fleming release also followed by updates.

I hope BTC gets to $150k haha

Just a matter of time. Could be before Christmas this year, could be 50 years.

Yeah. I remember that too. Everyone predicted Alpha 3 etc…

I fully understand that you are unable to say how long it will take to build a piece of very complex software. Within the first month of development whatever estimate you give will be waaayy wrong. 6 months down the line whatever estimate you give will still be wrong, but will be more accurate. So as you develop and as you learn more about the problem domain your estimation generally becomes more accurate. They describe it much better here :grin:Cone of Uncertainty - Wikipedia

What I’m wondering is, this deep into the project shouldn’t you be able give a decent estimate? Are there still that many unknowns?
Or do you feel this negatively affects the teams morale?

Gõdel taught us any formal system complex enough is not capable of introspection…

There was a quite stable testnet a couple weeks back, the best we’ve seen so far. I could still see a release of a true beta before this topic hits the 3 year mark. It depends how many bugs are in the node join phase, IMO.

Ok thanks, then I guess I will come back in 1 year or so and check again
