They are all blind to what’s in store with Safe Network. So many are going to be in shock when it gets to beta and starts growing exponentially.

GNU Guix, functional package manager and standalone GNU operating system, is ten years old! I’ve been using it for a little over a year now I think, and it’s been extremely problem-free and simple.

The blog post is lots of developers telling their stories of why they got involved, what they’ve worked on, what they like about the project, etc. Suprisingly heartwarming, if anyone is in the mood for a bit of that, and interesting to see all the different use cases.

Former Obama era intelligence officials, those who helped construct, organize and assemble the public-private partnership between intelligence data networks and supported social media companies, have written a letter to congress warning that any effort to break up Big Tech (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google, Microsoft, etc.) would be catastrophic for the national security system they have created.

It’s a conspiracy, I tell ya.

But is the conspiracy a conspiracy to create a conspiracy? :joy:

Did you read the letter itself? Here’s a link to the letter, it’s two pages, 8 paragraphs Open Letter Cyber Intel Defense HS (1) - Punchbowl News it’s worth actually reading.

Here’s a link to another article with a link to the same letter in it, from a website that doesn’t have the word ‘conservative’ in the title, maybe that helps? Secretary Johnson and Other Former National Security Officials Raise Alarm Over Tech Antitrust Bill | Paul, Weiss

I haven’t read the article posted by @TylerAbeoJordan, because I prefer reading the original document, but it is an excellent share, thanks Tyler.

If you read the document, it is very clearly stated (by James Clapper and other former US national security top guns) that the American digital media companies are an important weapon in the ideological battle going on against the Kremlin, and that diminishing their power to secretly do what they want would damage American national security interests in the battle against “digital authoritarianism”.

Now, perhaps you find this a reasonable line of argument @VaCrunch. I don’t understand how one can find the Safe Network a good idea and find this argument reasonable, but I could be missing something, of course.

At the very least though, there’s nothing ‘conspiratorial’ about the letter, it happened, and it’s very relevant reading to anyone genuinely concerned about freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and the state of the internet generally.

Edit: fixed a link

Nothing new here. You can say that about any other country and their relationship with the “digital media” or even “media”.
