No SAFE way to surf the web (yet!)
So OneWeb has now contracted with their competitor SpaceX to launch their sats:
So SpaceX profits off one web. LOL
Sorry… Sadly in german but I thought I’d share anyway
Speculation about consequences/possibilities of a split up in the Internet infrastructure (e.g. Russia simply pulling the plug and disconnecting from the rest of the world, or China no longer accepting the - as of now - Standards and just introducing/enforcing their own communication protocols)
In this case safe network nodes should probably come with parallel in/out communication queues l assume so that the communication strategy can depend on the node one wants to connect to
(will be thought of with update strategies anyway I assume because its similar in part but thought I’d mention since for me this possibility of having different Internets that need to be spanned by safe was not really on the horizon - in my mind we just needed to be able to transit to a new technology… In some distant future… @dirvine @oetyng )
Ps: of course no need to over-engineer too much from the beginning - at first the system needs to work on one platform at all… But thought having the possibility in one’s mind when working on communication in general might prevent the need for massive reworks later on…
Pps: but when thinking about it having node specific communication channels makes a lot of sense - with my computer I talk in python, with you I talk in English and with other people obviously in German language
Here:
NoScript addon has updated … but I wonder the defaults a bit open… and it seems to retain a lot of custom settings over time… resetting then allows a fair number of sites by default and Trusted allows LAN; ping; objects; and whatever ‘other’ is… and then does not always save the preference for those first occasion… their website using comic sans now too … all of which is a long way of wondering both that it is not inherently part of Firefox/Chrome by default and it’s unclear there is a good alt option for basic control over what is allowed to run… long may NoScript live on then.
I hope no-one here is experimenting with ‘Lunix’

I think I first saw this 20 years ago and it was a pisstake back then. Though some folk suspected it originated from the desk of Paul Allen.
Now its simply pathetic clickbait that even the Daily Mail would be embarrassed about.
LILO ← Id forgotten all about that Linux LOader
Also mysogynist shite, your daughter is every bit as capable of installing linux as your son.
I’ll shift it to ‘What’s up 20 years ago’ then, but I guess it’s related to this
More info about Lantern.
More of a Big Brother internet than a rival to the SN
Well look who funded it…
Same intent as Tor, I presume. CIA/Mossad pretending to “help”.

Doesn’t seem good for EU peeps. Meanwhile, in India:
Decentralization for the win on all fronts IMO.
