Sounds like a can of worms will be opened when this happens.

More blackmail material to be used to control politicians and wealthy individuals most likely … Skeptical any of it would be used properly to go after pedo’s.

Since Audacity was purchased by MuseGroup, they have been making some very questionable decisions with their software. The most serious things have been the introduction of data collection (including IP addresses) and the fact that they now prohibit children from using their software.

This will be the first starship to attempt orbit. The stacking of the starship on its booster is a major step in that.

Live now, it’ll be like watching paint dry, nothing exciting, but it is exciting to see them doing this.

Well that sucks. I’ve been using Audacity for like 15 years, but hadn’t heard it had been sold to a corporation. They said they fixed 160 bugs since it’s been obtained. I would have thought there would have been plenty of audio editing software you could pay for if you wanted a really plush user interface and more advanced features.

I certainly won’t be touching the newer versions.

I do use Audacity once in a blue moon… I’ll be using the fork.

The “Not for children” agreement is so suspicious. Is it really just about privacy?

I guess if kids grow up using great free software they are less valuable as consumers.
Can’t have them getting used to that life early.

There’s a surprising amount of backlash and heat coming off this. I’m still a bit baffled how crabapple users bought the last few years of marketing about how much they care about privacy and human rights, but it seems many people genuinely bought it, and are now shocked and outraged. Great to see an own goal from such a big, horrific company like this.

I recommend a browse of teddit for anyone who enjoys seeing people vowing to never touch these treacherous companies again. There’s people regularly mentioning Lineage OS, Graphene OS, going back to 2010 nokias and doing their online communication only from laptops running gnu/linux type systems. Lovely, lovely stuff.

If you have a github account, you can join Ed Snowden, myself and what Apple today called the “screeching voices of the minority” of objectors in co-signing the first letter uniting security & privacy experts, researchers, professors, policy advocates, and consumers against #Apple’s planned moves against all of our #privacy:
