Weekly update July 2 2026

From Discord:

Happy Thursday @everyone - very pleased to be sharing (and within daylight hours!), your headlines for this week!

**Performance is strong. **
Uploads and downloads are fast and stable - downloads are now running around 1GB a minute on a decent home connection. We also finished the deep dive into close-group agreement (whether nodes and clients agree on where data lives) and it came back clean: convergence is solid, drift is minor. Headline is the archive is healthy, and your data is safe and where it should be.

**Real data is flowing. **
The archive took on hundreds of gigabytes of genuine data this past week, including single uploads over 100GB. That growth is exactly what we need to see - what it asks of us now is more capacity to keep pace.

**Node size matters more than ever. **
The network already swaps full or unhealthy nodes out for peers that have room, and uploads now route around full nodes so they keep flowing. We are making that retirement of underpowered nodes stronger - so the nodes too small to keep up are the ones that get dropped first. The takeaway from that practically speaking is: run fewer, larger nodes to keep earning. 20GB+ is the sweet spot right now. If you are running lots of tiny nodes, they will be first in line to be pushed out, so do think about consolidating sooner rather than later.

**Upcoming. **
In-app node health and safe low-disk handling, and - for node runners - a way to see what running a node is likely to earn - we’re ready for and need to encourage growth from all sides now.

**For the builders among you. **
As you know, alongside the archive, Autonomi has a second protocol, x0x - a peer-to-peer, post-quantum network that lets AI agents and apps find each other, message, share files and collaborate, with no servers in the middle. Where the archive is for your immutable, x0x is all about content that flows. x0x is live (open source of course), and you can install it and build real apps on it today - straight against a local API. Fair warning: it is early and aimed at builders and tinkerers rather than being a finished article right now, it’s best on Linux or macOS, and is evolving fast. If you’re a tinker-er (… yes, I’m going to go with that as a word) then the repo and examples can be found here: GitHub - saorsa-labs/x0x: Agent-to-agent gossip network for AI systems — no winners, no losers, just cooperation. Named after tic-tac-toe. Built on saorsa-gossip + ant-quic. · GitHub

Outward and upwards we go!
