Weekly update 14 May 2026

Just a baby one this week, to complement the lovely one above from @Rusty Spork ::ship::

Speed Downloads are 2-3x faster than last week. The client now scales its decryption batch size dynamically based on available memory* - a 171MB file that took nearly three minutes is now completing in about one. Uploads are continuing to stabilise too, with multiple fixes merged into a new release candidate that’s being tested on production right now. *edit:*the dynamic batch size PR that is referenced, was not included in the last release - it will go out in the next one … but uploads should still be 2-3x faster because of the stability fixes* ::innocent::

Merkle payments and resumability The big one: Merkle-based payments are now working on testnet - 1GB files uploading with zero failures. These are the payments that unlock large file uploads at scale. Equally important, uploads are now resumable - if something fails mid-way, the payment is cached locally and retries don’t cost you again. We’re pushing these fixes through production testing now.

x0x Two weeks of pub/sub soak testing complete - millions of subscribers per topic, stress-tested at scale. That cycle is done and the focus has shifted back to application testing. More on this soon!

Trust layer The proof-of-concept marketplace contract is being deployed to blockchain with an adversarial review underway. A market-based pricing proposal is also in the works - more to share when it’s ready.

There’s more that’s now able to move forwards (yey!) - the app and Indelible/Reading Room are big parts of this - but rather than share the intention/inputs with @everyone we’re going to crack on and report back on how we actually go!

We’re sending our thanks and very best wishes to all of you - really couldn’t move this onwards without you ::folded_hands:: ::pink_heart::

To what’s ahead! Bux

Could you explain that bit? What exactly does it mean that the Trust Layer proof-of-concept marketplace contract is being deployed to the blockchain?

Maybe Bux could help you out better with an answer. She was the one who announced it.

I suspect that it is the badly worded staking that wasn’t the commonly accepted meaning of staking, but one that is surety that she dropped in discord a little while ago

The 2nd half of what you quoted is easy since this seems to be using the market place to feed into the charging algo.

I admit, I still don’t really understand. Am I to understand that the Trust layer won’t be part of the network? Will it be an external platform implemented on the blockchain? Definition on the website autonomi.com It doesn’t explain the technology, but rather points to a mechanism built into the network. Do you know anything more about this?

When I quizzed Bux about the staking and I found out its not staking in the blockchain world sense and is more of put your money where your mouth is in marketing sense, ie a surety that you will not scam.

The 2nd half of the Trust Layer statement sounds a whole lot like that.

How it is implemented no one knows at this time. Still being developed and we have to wait for details on what it is, what it entails, and any idea how its implemented.

Sounds like not more has happened in that area other than the work on the conceptual idea, and maybe multiple paths the development might take
