That carrie out was for the morning after wee woke up
Thank you for the heavy work team MaidSafe! I add the translations in the first post
Privacy. Security. Freedom
Must be honest this has never been a area of interest I know nothing of value.
Does anyone know the details, percentage paid, does it go to Maidsafe or the foundation?
It’s the 15% that gets paid to the Safe Network Foundation for redistribution to developers, contributors etc. for the sustainable development and growth of the Network and its ecosystem.
Ultimate goal is of course to have this entirely automated directly from the Network to devs and contributors.
Thanks Jim, I have so many questions but instead of wasting your time is there detail anywhere that I can self educate?
There’s a reasonable amount of detail over here in RFC 61 but happy to field any questions of course!
It’s really the original code dev rewards (5%) and app dev rewards (10%).
We don’t (yet) have an automated way of identifying apps that can be payed out automatically based on value etc. Some apps may download loads and look great, whereas others download little, but offer amazing value.
Also the code dev rewards should not really be paid to maidsafe, or at least we hope not. So a company putting a wallet to pay to does not work either.
Basically we are running away from the problem of automated ranking and passing it to the foundation. Now the foundation cannot profit from this in any way, but they will award grants, dev rewards etc. manually and publicly. It’s suboptimal, but it’s the best we can do for now. The key point is the foundation trustees and decision makers will need to be transparent, as well as wallets they use etc.
I think we will end up with a binding constitution that makes clear exactly how this all functions. @JimCollinson and Andrew are all over such ideas now and hopefully what we can do legally should be move visible.
Could the funds be locked up in some kind of smart contract and then users vote on where the funds go each month or so?
Perfect thank you!
Personally don’t see a issue with Maidsafe getting rewarded.
We get right into voting bots and preventing them via KYC/AML authorised users and much more complexity. I think anyway, smart contract in my opinion are very far from smart and the oracle integration is a problem often ignored. What I mean is build a huge trustless system, add a ton of advanced cryptography (ZK etc.) and then trust an external oracle that has nowhere near the level of security and is far removed from trustless.
Yes, I agree, I badly worded that. I meant uniquely maidsafe should not be the only recipient of core rewards. We feel the success of the network will be a fierce competition for those rewards. When I say fierce competition, I mean that in a logical way, not the usual kill the competition, but fiercely work to make improvements. I hope all core teams work in unison and share the vision.
Yeah, we need to start simple and manageable, and move on from there.
Would one solution be only nodes with > X Age be allowed to vote? This brings us back to the unique human problem.
Node age has gone the way of the dinosaurs
Shows how much i’ve been paying attention
As we speak, the mods are working frantically to reinforce the Unique Human thread cell doors. Truly a monster and not one we need stomping around here for now
I don’t get your point?
The Unique Human thread ran for years and kept getting resurrected.
The Thread they Couldn’t Kill
Haha, yeah, I’ve been involved. I’m sure he will rise again!
Noooooooooooooooooooo not the unique digital unique human cannot duplicate discussion again. Damn what are we going to do with all the clones out there and the brain backups being installed in them.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh let me out of this mess
Cashing in on this generous soon to be regretted offer.
Have the recent changes in DBC/Cash_notes/Transfers done anything to provide a concrete path forward with total supply distribution?
