The Gentleperson's Guide To Forum Spies

I also don’t like Warhol, so… To me, Warhol epitomizes Art without meaning. Hip hop began as a culture-defining vocal manifesto describing the life of and protest against the oppression of the minority (and in this specific case, African Americans). At a time, hip hop as an art form had meaning; holding up the past for scrutiny, magnifying the present for reflection, and illuminating possible futures.

I disagree that having a historical context should define our valuation of art. To me the most valuable art is the kind that would be appreciated by aliens that may have encountered similar themes and thus appreciate our art but would at the same time be like who the hell are the crips?

I just pop in to read the Dev updates nowadays, amazing to see how the network is evolving as fresh tech is incorporated.

Yeah, sure, because singing about ass, tits, drugs and money really heightened the art with autotune…puh-lease.

Art has always largely (No pun intended) been about tits and ass. And that is also why human art probably wouldn’t be appreciated by aliens. Cultural context is important.

You are using the wrong example.
