I’m hoping the visualiser tool can be hosted locally to test Docker test networks. also.
There were instructions somewhere to build the visualiser - but I cannot find them and my google-fu is weak. I know mongodb and node.js were involved…
Any hints, please?
well it did say " Ask me anything"…
I think you’re looking for the Network Visualiser wiki: Home · maidsafe-archive/Network-Visualiser Wiki · GitHub
Thank you
Would be fantastic to have the visualizer wrapped in with the next iteration of Docker images
Is there any way to run local_network_controller as a daemon and to hand it a .conf file instead of the interactive set-up?
In the Farmer package this will not exist. There will be a vault_manager that is a daemon. This is just a testing tool that nobody will ever really want unless they are researchers or looking to build their own networks.
@Melvin thought it would be nice to have all the questions put together in a big list, for MaidSafe to address one by one. So here’s a list of ONLY the questions that have NOT YET been answered:
How does data caching work between nodes?
When will Testnet1 be open to the public?
If I want to start developing which programming language can I use best?
Will there be a 2FactorAuthentication (google) on the testnet1 besides the password & pin?
Are there limits to what the Maidsafe system can offer (computing power, storage and bandwidth)
On which OS’s will Maidsafe run? will there be a android version?
If you guys don’t got enough questions can you show how to setup a testnet1 in the video conference? hihihi
Which technical questions do you guys got @ this moment yourself?
How do I build a decentralize exchange on Maidsafe?
Would it be possible to run WAMP on Maidsafe?
Do I have to specify if my app should use an IP4 or IP6 address
I assume that C++ will be the main language you use, will there be other programming language versions of Maidsafe?
Can you guys demonstrate an app you made and tell which actions you had to take to get it up and running?
Will the actual Safe client be made available in TestNet1?
Can all primary features/functions of the SAFE Network be tested in TestNet1?
Does the messaging on the network have OTR? Off The Record
Is my account not vunerable because I have to enter a PIN, Keyword and password on a
keyboard? “From the Lifestuff example”
Sorry, but I’ll be honest the user credentials is a disaster (people now have to memorise 2things and you want them to memorise 3things? No way) (2FA, SQRL or BITID is way better to login)
Can the Lifestuff account be used for every single app on the network or can I create my own login mechanisme?
Could cryptolocker encrypt data on my VFS Drive and take the data for hostage?
Does the meta-data that’s on the network not make it possible for someone to monitor my
interactions?
In the youtube “API General Discussion, time 32:00” you talk about apps taking “Time-Outs” is this solved? (It think you can find a solution to this if you look @ how data-packets work on the current internet, there is UDP and another protocol, I’m to lazy now to go and find it)
Could me and my friends have a private Maidsafe network offline on our wifi island?
Will the Maidsafe be available as browser plugin?
With Project Zero Google is improving the internet with hackers, are you guys currently
working with hackers to improve Maidsafe?
Can you report bugs right in the network? Does the system detect when it crashes, if
it crashes?
What does the system do with “The same file” but different formats (the
Netflix thingy)?
Maybe the system could get recognise “The same files different formats” in the future and just display 1 format “VIDEO” on all devices and delete the others
If I like to develop for Maidsafe in a crossplatform language, which language is best suited?
How is SAFE different from i2p?
How does a (relay) node know the next relay, without knowing the final destination address?
Would there ever be an event where the uploading node sends a 1MB chunk directly to their close neighbor for storage?
Does Data Synchronisation happen automatically or should I do it manually?
If 1 node containing my data goes offline, is it replaced by another node, so that the total backup is always 4?
Could nodes be blocked from connecting and how is it solved?
Are their any weaknesses or drawbacks to using RUDP?
Does the login/logout got a timer, let’s say I haven’t been active for 1 hour it automatically logs out?
Could you explain how the update manager works?
Can I use SAFE to automatically sync files so I can work offline, or do I have to use a separate program to achieve this (syncing my local files to my SAFE virtual drive)?
How will SAFE be expressed on iPhones and Androids && will it require jailbreak?
Can a non-developer do anything with the s/w today?
I read the install guide and I’d like to install the s/w, but it’s not clear what I could do with it.
For example, could I use the testnet with Examples posted on Github?
How to set MaidSAFE settings?
A URL with docs would suffice.
I’m interested in how I could set what part of filesystem can be used, how much bandwidth can be used, etc. because of security and network congestion concerns.
Does it help to the project (devs) to have a node running on the testnet?
If yes, what are you looking for - a variety of architectures and OS, fast nodes, large capacity?
How does one build the visualizer?
All done
